Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have bid farewell to their former UK residence, Frogmore Cottage, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace.

The couple, who were asked to leave six months ago, have now relocated to their California mansion, with their belongings being shipped just in time before the deadline.

However, this move leaves them without a base in the UK, meaning they may have to rely on friends or book hotels whenever they return.

The eviction notice served to the Sussexes came shortly after Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” was published in January.

The news of losing Frogmore Cottage hit them hard, particularly because it was a gift from the late Queen.

However, it is important to clarify that the Queen had only granted them the lease, not the property itself, which ultimately resulted in their eviction.

Sir Michael Stevens, the keeper of the Privy Purse, released a statement on behalf of the Crown, confirming their departure and emphasizing that the Duke and Duchess have repaid the renovation expenses, leaving the Crown with an enhanced asset.

Despite the financial aspect, it appears that the couple will now be responsible for their own expenses, marking a renewed focus on tightening royal spending.

Frogmore Cottage, a Grade II listed building known for its cozy allure and boasting five bedrooms, is expected to be put up for rent.

There have been suggestions that Prince Andrew might consider vacating the nearby 31-room Royal Lodge to move in, as it was previously rumored that the King had plans to relocate his brother.

Insiders believe that Frogmore Cottage will find new occupants swiftly, given its recent £2.4 million makeover by the Sussexes.

While Prince Harry stayed at Frogmore Cottage earlier this month as a witness in a phone hacking trial, it remains uncertain whether he and Meghan will be able to reach a private agreement with the King if they wish to stay in any other royal premises in the future.

Although the Sussexes resided at Frogmore Cottage after the Queen’s passing, they have spent very little time there since leaving the UK three years ago.

Following news of their eviction, sources close to the couple revealed that they were surprisingly accepting of the decision, adopting an “it is what it is” approach.

Meghan and Harry acknowledged their privilege in having homes both in the UK and the US but ultimately recognized that it was not feasible for them.

The fact that Frogmore Cottage was initially a gift from Queen Elizabeth added an emotional layer to their departure, but they have come to terms with it.

In other news related to Meghan Markle, her cheerleader Omid Scobie has announced the upcoming release of his new book, “Endgame,” which delves into the future of the British royal family.

Scobie, who co-authored Meghan and Prince Harry’s biography, “Finding Freedom,” took to Twitter to share the news, inviting readers to pre-order the book, set to hit shelves on November 21st, 2023.

The introduction on HarperCollins.com provides a glimpse into the book, describing it as an investigation into the monarchy’s future, exposing the turmoil, family dysfunction, distrust, and traditional practices that threaten its existence.

As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle embark on their new chapter without Frogmore Cottage, the question remains: Do they possess the necessary tools to salvage the future of the British monarchy?
