Piers Morgan Pays Surprising Tribute to Meghan Markle at Trick Awards
In a stunning turn of events at the prestigious Trick Awards, Piers Morgan left attendees speechless as he delivered an unexpected tribute to Meghan Markle during his acceptance speech.
The former Good Morning Britain host, aged 58, was honored with the interview of the year award for his remarkable conversation with football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, held at London Grosvenor House on Tuesday.
After playfully mocking TV rival Dan Walker, Piers shifted the tone of his speech and turned his attention to the Duchess of Sussex, referencing their long-standing feud.
While expressing his thanks to Meghan Markle, Piers’ tribute carried a bitter sting, as he humorously alluded to losing his job at Good Morning Britain after controversially criticizing Meghan’s explosive Oprah Winfrey tell-all interview in March 2021.
At the time, Piers stepped down as the show’s host, alongside Susannah Reid, following a wave of complaints to Ofcom from thousands of ITV viewers who found his comments towards Meghan misogynistic and damaging.

Piers also took the opportunity to mock rival presenter Dan Walker, who had presented him with the coveted Trick Award.
When Dan attempted to tease Piers about his Good Morning Britain walkout, the TV Talk host responded with a resounding F-you.
Amidst the light-hearted banter, Piers expressed his gratitude towards Ronaldo for granting him the opportunity to conduct the interview.
However, before concluding, he took a moment to address the backstabbing nature of the radio and TV industry, making a clear reference to his previous claims about the toxicity at ITV.
Piers humorously mentioned Philip Schofield’s recent scandalous exit from the network following the revelation of his affair with a younger male colleague.
In his closing remarks, Piers extended his appreciation to the Trick Awards, highlighting the unity within the TV and radio industry.
“‘Lovely to see the whole TV and radio industry together.
One big happy family,’ he quipped, contradicting the notion.
“‘That is a backstabbing cesspit,’ Piers concluded his speech by expressing his honor at winning the prestigious Trick Award.”
