Meghan Markle’s Close Friend and Soho House Director: The Man Behind the Scenes
Marcus, the Soho House director, has been a constant presence in Meghan Markle’s life, from her early days in Toronto to her transition into royal life.
As part of the exclusive A-list guest list, he attended Meghan’s extravagant £350,000 New York baby shower and stood by her side during her first public appearance with Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in 2017.
But who is Marcus, and what role does he play in Meghan’s life at the palace?
Originally from Ontario, Marcus moved to London at the age of 18, where he worked as a waiter at the elite members-only Soho House.
It was there that he caught the attention of founder Nick Jones, who sent him to Toronto to open a new branch.

It was in Toronto that Marcus first met Meghan in 2001, as she arrived to film the hit TV legal drama Suits.
Their friendship quickly blossomed, with Meghan expressing her gratitude for his support and fun-loving nature on her now-defunct website, The Tig.
According to sources within Soho House, Marcus played a pivotal role in introducing Meghan to a network of influential individuals long before Prince Harry entered the picture.
This included her close friends George and Amal Clooney, as well as her best friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney, who played a significant role in the royal wedding last year.
When Meghan’s first marriage ended, Marcus provided a shoulder to lean on and set her up on dates with eligible suitors.
While he may not have directly played matchmaker with Prince Harry, he did facilitate their secret meetings in private rooms at his club in Toronto, as well as arranging romantic getaways in London and Somerset’s Babington House, another Soho House property.
As Meghan’s relationship with Prince Harry became public, Marcus continued to be a trusted confidant and guide in her transition into royal life.
Known for his ability to make anyone feel special, Marcus is described as brilliantly connected, utterly charming, and discreet.
He remains fiercely loyal to Meghan, keeping her secrets close.
