Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were taken aback by the sudden announcement of Spotify’s worldwide campaign with Angelina Jolie, just days after their exit from the audio streaming platform.

According to a new report, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were expecting a more positive send-off from Spotify, but it seems their expectations were not met.

Sources reveal that Harry and Meghan had hoped for a statement from Spotify praising their collaboration and expressing gratitude for working with Meghan.

However, the streaming giant did not fulfill their expectations, leaving the couple disappointed.

It is reported that Spotify had been urging Harry and Meghan to produce more content throughout the past year.

Unfortunately, the Sussexes were unable to deliver what was required before their contract came to an end earlier this month.

Shortly after announcing the termination of their agreement with Meghan, Spotify hastily publicized a newly signed partnership with UNICEF, focusing on a global campaign for refugees.

Notably, this campaign involves Angelina Jolie, whom Meghan has long admired and sought to collaborate with on various projects.

Spotify released a statement regarding their collaboration with UNICEF, emphasizing their goal of supporting young people, including refugees and migrants, in optimizing their mental health and well-being both online and offline.

Elizabeth Nieto, VP, Global Head of Equity and Impact at Spotify, highlighted the use of music, audio, and innovative digital content to provide trusted and engaging mental health resources for young people, caregivers, and communities.

Angelina Jolie, a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, recorded a special message for World Refugee Day as part of the campaign.

The video will be made available to broadcasters in the Republic of Moldova.

UNHCR Moldova encourages people to share the video message on platforms like Facebook.

Spotify and UNICEF have embarked on a three-year partnership to ensure that young people, including refugees and displaced individuals, have access to reliable and engaging mental health audio content.

The initial focus will be on addressing the urgent mental health needs of young people affected by the war in Ukraine.

UNICEF has been actively supporting mental health interventions for over 2.6 million Ukrainian children and caregivers since before 2022.

Moving forward, Spotify and UNICEF plan to expand their impact to other emergency and non-emergency contexts worldwide.

Angelina Jolie, in her role as Special Envoy, has been a vocal advocate for refugee rights, undertaking more than 60 field missions to witness and address the suffering and resilience of displaced people.

Although she stepped down from her position in December 2022 to engage in a broader range of humanitarian and human rights issues, her commitment to refugees and forced displacement remains unchanged.

With the support of Spotify, UNICEF has collaborated with Ukrainian and Polish youth to create a new mental health podcast called “On My Mind.”

The first season will be available in Ukrainian, Polish, and English, with additional languages planned for the future.

Moving forward, Spotify and UNICEF will continue to work together to co-create, adapt, digitize, and translate digital mental health content, ensuring that young people around the world have access to essential resources.
