Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is facing a legal battle with Spotify after the streaming platform sued her for underperformance.

The Harry Markle blog revealed that Spotify had been in litigation with Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, for a year, alleging that they failed to deliver the expected quality and content.

Despite Meghan’s attempts to secure her full payment, Spotify argued that they were not obligated to renew the contract or compensate her for content she did not create.

The crux of the dispute lies in the quality of the couple’s podcast.

Over a span of two years, they managed to produce a mere 13 episodes, which were met with extremely negative feedback.

The podcast performed so poorly that each new weekly episode plummeted further down the Spotify rankings, making it virtually unlistenable.

Consequently, Spotify made the decision to decline any future collaborations, wishing the couple the best of luck in their future endeavors.

To resolve the ongoing legal issue, the court ordered mediation between the parties involved.

This alternative dispute resolution method was chosen to avoid the lengthy and costly process of a court trial.

As a result, the public heard very little about the case for several months, as the mediation process continued behind closed doors.

In an interesting twist, it is believed that Meghan Markle was compelled to complete one series of the podcast instead of receiving her advance payment back.

This development suggests that there may be a trail of emails documenting instructions given to staff and requests for changes.

Employees may be subpoenaed to provide evidence regarding their work schedules and other relevant information, ultimately aiming to establish whether the couple genuinely intended to deliver valuable content or were merely attempting to exploit the situation.
