After facing the threat of contract cancellation from Netflix due to poor performance, Meghan Markle has found herself in hot water once again.

This time, the Duchess of Sussex has been accused of plagiarizing the idea for her latest Netflix project.

Actress Olivia Colman has publicly criticized Meghan for allegedly copying the concept of another movie.

Meghan and Prince Harry have been working on a new Netflix project titled “Bad Manners” as they aim to bounce back from their recent setback with Spotify.

The couple’s show is said to be inspired by Charles Dickens’ renowned novel, “Great Expectations,” with a feminist twist on the character Miss Havisham.

However, it has been claimed that this feminist prequel bears a striking resemblance to an adaptation made a decade ago.

Numerous adaptations have previously explored the character of Miss Havisham, with Olivia Colman herself portraying the iconic role in a 2023 series.

Dr. Emily Bell, an English professor and editor at the Dickinson, expressed concerns about the feminist angle of Meghan’s adaptation.

She questioned whether focusing on this character automatically makes it feminist or if it merely repeats the voyeuristic portrayal of Miss Havisham’s misery.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams also criticized the Sussexes’ move to Netflix.

He highlighted Meghan’s cancelled animated series “Pearl” and Spotify’s dissatisfaction with their previous projects.

Fitzwilliams questioned why the couple, with their high profile and international appeal, have achieved so little.

He also mentioned Harry’s flawed judgment in his memoir “Spare.”

The rumors surrounding Meghan and Harry’s new project with Netflix continue to swirl.

Despite recent accusations of embellishing a car chase incident, the couple is reportedly developing a feature-length film inspired by their time in the UK.

It is speculated that their story as former working royals could captivate audiences on the big screen.

This inspiration is said to have come from Netflix’s upcoming film “Scoop,” which delves into Prince Andrew’s controversial interview with BBC’s Emily Maitlis.

While Meghan is pushing for the project to happen, Harry is reportedly more cautious.

The couple signed a staggering $100 million deal with Netflix in 2020, and as part of the agreement, they are expected to produce various types of content, including documentaries, films, children’s shows, and docuseries.

As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex navigate their way through the entertainment industry, they face both criticism and high expectations.

The accusations of idea theft and questions about their productivity raise concerns about their ability to deliver on their lucrative Netflix deal.

Only time will tell if Meghan and Harry can overcome these obstacles and find success in their new venture.
