Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s hopes of becoming Netflix megastars have been brutally dashed by a US columnist who claims that no one wants to watch anything they produce.

The couple recently signed a lucrative deal with Netflix, estimated to be worth £109 million, to create original content for the streaming platform.

While their fans eagerly anticipate their on-screen projects, there is a significant portion of the population that is far from excited.

Maureen Callahan, a US columnist for the New York Post, has openly criticized Meghan and Harry’s ambitions, particularly their aspirations of becoming Netflix sensations.

Callahan sarcastically dismissed their statement about making inspirational family programming, stating, “In other words, stuff no one wants to watch.”

She pointed out that the most talked-about documentary on Netflix currently revolves around a South African man falling in love with an octopus, emphasizing the stark contrast between that and the Sussexes’ proposed content.

Adding to their woes, Meghan’s debut book, “The Bench,” has received scathing reviews and has slipped down the charts in the US.

Callahan described it as a talentless piece of twaddle, suggesting that its initial success was due to the couple purchasing thousands of copies themselves to donate to schools and charities.

She argued that if the book truly resonated with readers, it would have maintained its number one spot for much longer.

Callahan further criticized Meghan’s credibility as an author, questioning her ability to write anything else without the assistance of a team of ghostwriters.

She compared “The Bench” unfavorably to the works of renowned children’s book authors Julia Donaldson and Anthony Brown, highlighting the stark contrast in quality.

The columnist also delved into the strained relationship between the Sussexes and the royal family.

She accused Meghan of spreading hatred and division, asserting that she has never demonstrated love for her own family or Harry’s.

Callahan suggested that Meghan relies on Harry to provide her with information about his family, as she is prohibited from attending royal events.

This control extends to their conversations, with Meghan allegedly demanding detailed accounts of every interaction Harry has with his relatives.

Callahan speculated on the dynamics within the royal family, positing that Harry is held hostage in a sense, unable to freely communicate with his own family without reporting back to Meghan.

She lamented the lack of privacy and trust in their relationship, contrasting it with the behavior of most spouses who do not feel the need to constantly report on their every word and movement.

As Harry returns to the UK for the unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue, Callahan predicted a challenging time for him.

She suggested that the royal family has little to say to Harry, especially after his recent public criticisms of his father and grandparents.

While acknowledging that the Queen may want to speak with Harry, Callahan speculated that it could be to inform him that he will be relinquishing his titles, as he did when he previously faced consequences for his actions.

In conclusion, Meghan and Harry’s dreams of Netflix stardom have been met with skepticism and criticism.

The couple faces significant challenges, both in terms of their content production and their strained relationship with the royal family.

Only time will tell if they can overcome these obstacles and regain the trust and support they have lost.
