In a surprising turn of events, Megan Markle recently sent a thank you letter for a gift received by her son, Archie, on his fourth birthday.

However, it seems that this gesture has raised some eyebrows and sparked controversy.

The letter, sent by Megan’s spokesperson on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, expressed gratitude to Martin and Jennifer, the owners of a Montecito bike shop, for their thoughtful present.

What makes this situation peculiar is the timing of the letter.

Archie’s birthday occurred over a month ago, leaving many wondering why Megan is only now expressing her appreciation.

Furthermore, it is worth noting that the couple has stepped down as royals, yet they continue to use their titles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, when sending correspondence.

This has led to criticism, with some suggesting that the couple is attempting to maintain their royal status despite their decision to step away from it.

However, the owners of Mad Dogs and Englishmen bike shop have now come forward to clarify the situation.

They assert that their shop did not, in fact, provide a gift to any wealthy individuals in Montecito.

According to the bike shop owners, the letter appears to be nothing more than a PR stunt orchestrated by Megan.

They emphasize that the shop actually donated bikes to underprivileged children in Los Angeles who could not afford one of their own.

While they did send some bikes to the Montecito area, they were intended for those in need within the community, not specifically for Megan Markle’s children.

Jennifer Blevins, the owner of the bike shop, questioned the logic behind gifting a bike to a wealthy four-year-old.

She expressed her confusion, stating that she would not have chosen to give a bike to Megan’s son, Archie, even if approached by the Duchess herself.

Blevins also raised the issue of recipient identification, emphasizing that free gifts should only be provided to those who genuinely require assistance.

With Megan’s considerable wealth, many wonder why she did not simply purchase a bike for her son instead of seeking a donation.

This incident is not the first time Megan Markle has faced scrutiny regarding her desire for freebies.

Tina Brown’s book, “The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor, The Truth and the Terminal,” sheds light on Megan’s past behavior.

The book describes how Megan would leverage her now-defunct blog, The Tig, to receive luxury goods at no cost.

It seems that she developed a reputation among luxury brand marketers for her keen interest in receiving designer items without paying for them.

According to Brown, Megan and Prince Harry underestimated the realities of life outside the royal family.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Brown explained that Megan was drawn to the allure of celebrity perks and couldn’t resist the temptations that came her way.

This revelation sheds light on a possible motive behind Megan’s attempt to secure a free bike for Archie.

Interestingly, tensions surrounding the issue of freebies had previously led to conflicts within Megan’s staff.

Melissa Tabatti, Megan’s former assistant, reportedly clashed with her over the acceptance of free gifts from companies.

Palace sources suggest that Tabatti adhered strictly to the household rule prohibiting members of the royal family from accepting such offerings.

This approach did not sit well with Megan, leading to strained relations between the two.
