Marvel Fans Want Jeremy Renner To Be Fired

Some fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe want Jeremy Renner to leave his Hawkeye role. Renner has been playing Clint Barton in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the first Thor film in 2011. Renner is expected to reprise his character in the next Hawkeye Disney+ series and future MCU productions following the triumph of Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Some MCU fans, on the other hand, want him ousted after his ex-wife accused him of some dubious behavior.

Renner has been the target of multiple claims from his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco in recent weeks. During a custody fight over their daughter Ava, the Canadian model claimed Renner threatened to harm herself and their daughter. Renner was regularly inebriated during their marriage, according to other recent charges, and allegedly placed a bag of cocaine on a bathroom counter that Ava could access.

Renner’s reps issued a statement denying the claims and promising that the actor will submit to random drug testing to establish his innocence. Regardless of the circumstances, some MCU fans want him to be replaced.

One fan, Cheryl Lynn Eaton, said:

“Y’all swapped Terrence Howard for Don Cheadle on some ‘They all look alike’ business, so I see no issue with chucking Renner the deuce, hiring Charlie Hunnam, and saying not a damn thing about it.”

Jeremy Renner’s agents made another statement earlier today, alleging that Sonni Pacheco is mentally ill and was devastated when Renner chose to break their marriage after less than a year. They claim she has been after the actor since then, damaging his career, including the upcoming Hawkeye series. Pacheco says Renner discharged a pistol in their house as their daughter slept, and he has photographic evidence, which Renner and his representatives claim has been “grossly doctored.” They also call her assertions that Renner is a “homicidal maniac” “absolute nonsense.” Pacheco has replied by petitioning the court for protection from Renner.

All of this being said, it remains to be seen if Renner’s position in the Hawkeye TV program will be impacted by the current controversy. At this time, the reports that Renner may be replaced are just that: rumors. Even if Disney/Marvel is contemplating methods to scale back or eliminate Renner’s role in Hawkeye, such negotiations are most likely still in the early stages. Fans will not know how the studio will proceed until a formal decision is made. Marvel fans may continue to voice their ideas and argue what should happen to Hawkeye in the MCU until then.
