Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, was recently praised by the designer of Aquazurra brand for wearing its shoes to a royal event.

The £645,000 black heels, which are favored by the Duchess of Sussex, were worn by Kate during her duties as patron of the National Portrait Gallery at the venue’s reopening ceremony following a three-year refurbishment program.

The Princess of Wales kept things monochrome in a white blazer, dressed from British brand Self Portrait.

Consisting of a pleated skirt flowing from beneath a boucle tweed jacket, the top half of the design featured a thin waist belt in the same white hue, with a black thread and diamante trim surrounding the neckline, cuffs, four breast pockets, and along the fastening that was further decorated with jeweled buttons all down the center.

While there’s no doubt Kate looked as elegantly polished as ever, it was her accessories that actually captured our attention on this occasion.

The Princess of Wales once again stepped out in a pair of Megan Markle’s favorite heels to reopen the National Portrait Gallery.

Beaming as she arrived, the mother of three opted for simple pearl teardrop earrings and wore her thick brunette locks down in a bouncy blow-dry.

Aquazurra is a brand founded in 2012 and was not a household name when Megan started wearing the shoes.

For her engagement photo call, she wore the label’s 490-pound suede Matilda heels and not white Aquazuras for the evening reception at her wedding.

It’s not the first time that Kate has opted for the heels too, after wearing them for the Rome Governor’s General and Prime Minister’s lunch at Buckingham Palace in May.

Megan’s Aquazura obsession began long before meeting her prince.

She opted for the shoes for her first ever solo royal engagement, as well as a number of other occasions.

She donned the shoes another time for the quintenary of the Armistice Service at Westminster Abbey, November 11, 2018.

The Duchess also opted for the heels a number of times during her royal tour of Australia and New Zealand, and in total, she was pictured in the heels nine times during her time in the royal family.

The brand’s founder, Edgardo, is rather a prodigy.

Born in Colombia and raised in Miami and London, he studied at the London College of Fashion and, at 23, worked for Roberto Cavalli.

Two years on, he set up Aquazura, its headquarters is in Florence, and the brand is known for bold patterns and metallics.

Aquazura means blue water in Italian, and on each sole is the company’s gold pineapple logo.

Sold in high-end department stores, prices range from £370 up to £1,500.
