Justin Bieber Drops a ‘Hotline Bling’ Remix’ through actual hotline
Another day, another remix of “Hotline Bling.” On Friday, Oct. 30, Justin Bieber put his own take on Drake’s current popular track, “Hotline Bling,” telling fans to call a real hotline to hear it.
Bieber stated Friday that everyone who calls a Northwest Michigan phone number would get a remix of the smash song.
The most striking aspect of the remix is how it sounds digitized, as if it’s being played through an actual hotline. Bieber did change some of Drake’s lyrics — crooning the pivotal line as “you used to call him on his cell phone.”
“Love to my bro @champagnepapi,” Bieber posted on Instagram after Drake’s tune was released, giving Drake his due. “Canadian boys really doing it.”
“Call me 231-377-1113 on my cell phone,” the 21-year-old singer tweeted. He also released a photo of his “1-800-HotlineBling Remix” on Instagram.

The pop star’s version is pitched higher than the original and includes minor changes to Drake’s lyrics, but it retains the angsty spirit of the rapper’s forlorn letter to an ex-lover.
Perhaps the remix is Bieber’s way of apologizing to fans after he left a show in Norway earlier this week after being irritated by supporters in the front row.
“Sadly it’s Been a rough week for me, long days no sleep, while having to be ‘on’ as they would say for cameras fans etc.,” the 21-year-old singer posted on Instagram following the incident. “In no way did I mean to come across mean, but chose to end the show as the people in the front row would not listen.”
After Bieber’s difficult week, the surprise remix for his fans might be a show of gratitude. On Wednesday, Oct. 28, he stormed out of a cringingly awful radio interview.
The “What Do You Mean?” singer is getting ready to release his new studio album, Purpose, on November 13th.
“Hotline Bling” has been remixed before: Sam Smith and Disclosure did a rendition of the song on BBC Radio 1 in September, while R&B singer Erykah Badu released her own remix earlier this month.
Many people have compared “Hotline Bling” to Virginia rapper D.R.A.M.’s song “Cha Cha” to the point that D.R.A.M. tweeted, “I feel I got jacked for my record.”
Bieber’s ploy is modeled after Hall & Oates’ “Callin’ Oates,” hotline, which began releasing the renowned rock duo’s classics on demand in 2011. (Call 1-719-26-OATES)
