Jay Z Physically Attacked By Solange Knowles in an Elevator After Met Gala
Jay Z was brutally beaten by Beyonce’s sister Solange inside an elevator at the Standard Hotel in New York. Solange was frantically kicking and swinging at him… and the fight was recorded on security footage acquired by TMZ.
Beyoncé is seen on Jay Z’s side at the time when Solange starts throwing punches, but toward the end, Beyoncé comes between her sister and husband, at which point Solange is held by a security guard.
Admin the confrontation, Jay Z responded with a retort but did not attempt to physically react. Beyonce mostly remained uninvolved in the brawl.
When you look attentively at the footage, you can see the bodyguard on the 12th level pressing the emergency stop button in the middle of the battle, presumably to keep the fight private.
Jay Z and Solange’s representatives did not immediately reply to a request for comment from Billboard. Although the persons in the elevator cannot be identified, the ensembles they are wearing — a white suit with a black bowtie and a light-colored gown — are very similar to those worn by Jay Z and Solange at the Met Gala.

After the altercation, the trio was seen leaving the hotel, and TMZ reports that Jay Z went into one car while Beyoncé and Solange walked into another. TMZ says Solange “looks pissed.”
The cause of the altercation is unknown because the CCTV film does not include audio.
Solange was joined onstage by Beyonce during her Coachella performance last month, and Jay Z stopped by Nas’ set as a guest performer at the event. Solange just revealed that her new album, “True,” will be released this autumn, after her critically acclaimed 2012 EP.
The Standard acknowledged that the footage was obtained from one of its elevators in a statement, and said it is looking into the security violation.
The hotel said in a statement received by The Hollywood Reporter, “We are shocked and disappointed that there was a clear breach of our security system and the confidentiality that we count on providing our guests. We are investigating with the utmost urgency the circumstances surrounding the situation and, as is our customary practice, will discipline and prosecute the individuals involved to our fullest capacity.”
