Harry’s Podcast Dreams: Why Spotify Refuses to Work with Him

It seems that Harry’s podcast dreams may never come true as Spotify firmly refuses to work with him.

According to sources, Harry spoke with multiple producers and production houses to discuss possible shows, but none of them ever came to fruition.

Spotify declined to comment on the matter, as did Archwell Audio.

Harry had various ideas for shows, including one about childhood trauma.

The concept involved Harry interviewing a procession of controversial guests, such as Vladimir Putin, Mark Zuckerberg, and Donald Trump, about their early formative years and how those experiences resulted in the adults they are today.

He also had an idea for a show centered on fatherhood and another that would tackle major societal conversations episode by episode, ranging from climate change to religion.

For the latter, Harry hoped to have Pope Francis on as a guest.

However, the practicality of these ideas struck some people in the Harry podcast cosmos as questionable at best.

People like Putin and Zuckerberg rarely give wide-ranging interviews about the topics they’re passionate about, let alone about their upbringings and personal childhood traumas.

It appears that Harry doesn’t understand entertainment, as he is accustomed to royal engagements, which are almost always to highlight causes.

Speeches about causes do not translate into podcast entertainment.

Furthermore, Harry’s idea about his childhood trauma has been met with criticism.

He was born a prince, had a huge platform, had influence, and contact with the most powerful people, yet he could not do a single thing in his life.

This has led many to question his ability to compare himself to Putin or Zuckerberg or even Trump.

One commenter said, “Please tell me this is a joke.

I feel bad for him, really.”

It seems that Harry’s podcast dreams were not well thought out, and he may have been trying to associate with big names for PR purposes.

He thinks he has become enlightened since marrying Meghan and is convinced it’s his job to show the rest of the world the path to enlightenment.

A real-life prince is now indistinguishable from your run-of-the-mill Instagram guru, telling you the secret for how to achieve all your dreams.

In any case, no podcast from Harry ever materialized.

The difficulty of nailing down a workable idea and actually recording a show over nearly three years of a production deal speaks to the broader reckoning around celebrity-driven content.

The pandemic reduced work for movie stars and others, who typically fly around the world from project to project.

Instead, they were all stuck at home with plenty of time on their hands.

This is why, for example, so many celebrities were signing podcast deals, even if they didn’t necessarily have a concrete workable idea that could get made into a show, let alone become a hit.

Regardless, audio executives clamored to sign up A-listers in the hopes they’d get a win and secure a hit.

The company staffed up, and for a while, it felt like the momentum would never stop.

But as we reemerge from that time, and both stars and normies go back to some semblance of their old routines, we’re seeing many of those earlier commitments fall by the wayside.

In short, the great celeb podcast boom is quickly going bust.

Clearly, in retrospect, many of these vastly expensive deals that never resulted in much of anything shouldn’t have been made.

But the money was spent, and as cost-cutting measures continue to spread through the podcast industry, the ramifications of this misspending for everybody else aren’t entirely over yet.

Regular producers, editors, and engineers continue to lose their jobs.

It’s safe to say that Harry’s podcast dreams may never come true, but only time will tell.

What do you think about Harry’s crazy fantasies when he came up with the idea of the podcast?
