Harry and Meghan: The End of the Road for the Sussexes?

Fox News host Jesse Wetters recently criticized Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, branding them as grifters.

This comes after Bill Simmons called the couple the same name.

Wetters said that the former royals bailed on their $20 million Spotify deal after just 12 shows, claiming that those dozen podcasts were too much work.

It turns out that Meghan didn’t even conduct the interviews herself; instead, a staffer sat down with the guests, and Meghan later edited her questions and threw in her voice.

Wetters believes that this is a lot of money for no product.

Harry’s karma for insulting the British government and trying to destroy the British media has caught up with him.

He has now realized that there’s nowhere in the world he can hide, and everyone everywhere is seeing him for what he really is.

The Sussexes are in danger of their entire media empire imploding as Netflix has grown tired of them.

Rumors are circulating about what the couple will do next, with previous reports suggesting they could sign a new fashion deal with Dior, although these claims have been shut down by a spokesperson for the fashion house.

Journalist and author Damien Riley believes that this may be the end of the road for the Sussexes’ reputation and business plans.

New reports suggest that Netflix could be following in the same footsteps as Spotify and might axe their £78 million deal with Harry and Meghan.

As part of the Netflix deal, the couple released their bombshell docuseries Harry and Meghan at the end of last year, which was about everything going on in their lives since they stepped down as senior royals in March of 2020.

Writing for The Spectator, Mr. Riley spoke of the infamous South Park episode earlier this year that mocked the Sussexes and explained why it had been a turning point for the couple’s media reputation.

He said that in the past, the couple had been able to write off the endless criticism before they were mercilessly savaged by the coolest kids in Tinseltown.

It’s hard not to feel a little sympathy for Meghan, not least because it feels like the end of the road reputationally.

First, she enraged large sections of the public in the UK with her antics, but then she left seemingly for the promise of being better understood and therefore more free in America.

But history seems to be repeating itself, now increasingly she’s being openly mocked for what’s perceived to be the grift, swindle of monetizing and using for social advancement, the supposed horrors of a life of unimaginable royal privilege.

However, while Mr. Riley said there could be a way to rebrand successfully for the couple, he added that it’s hard to imagine how that might be successful.

Mr. Riley said it’s perhaps time for the Sussexes to follow in the footsteps of the rest of the royal family with their approach to the media.

Perhaps it begins with a lengthy period of silence and unheralded dedication to unglamorous, worthy causes, ironically enough pretty much exactly what is expected of a member of the British royal family.

It might be the duller option, but it’s at least harder to satirize.
