On what would have been his 99th birthday, the current Earl Spencer took to social media to commemorate his late father, John, the 8th Earl Spencer.

Earl Spencer, also known as Charles Spencer, shared a black-and-white photo of his father on Instagram, which caught the attention of royal admirers due to the striking resemblance to a young member of the royal family – Prince George, the eldest son of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The 58-year-old Earl Spencer, who currently resides in Northamptonshire’s Althorp House, celebrated his father’s birthday by sharing the monochrome image of a 16-year-old John, who was a cadet at the time and was arrested in 1940.

Earl Spencer captioned the post on Twitter, “An image of my father, as a 16-year-old cadet in 1940, on the occasion of his 99th birthday.

He would be acknowledged in a dispatch, four years later, for his work as a tank commander during the invasion of Normandy.”

Trending:

The photo was taken outside Althorp House, which, in the past, was covered in ivy.

This detail added a sense of nostalgia to the image, taking viewers back to a different era.

The striking resemblance between the late John Spencer and Prince George did not go unnoticed by royal admirers.

One commenter on Charles’ post remarked, “Yes, Prince George is a full-blooded Spencer.”

Another Twitter user wrote, “In your family, the masculine genes are highly dominant.

It seems like you and young Prince George have a lot in common, and this photo proves it.”

A third person simply stated, “Prince George.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
