It was there that she met Thomas Markle, who stood up for her when she was being harassed by a drunk director.
Thomas worked as a lighting director at the studio and was well off.
He cared for Doria and tried to suppress rumors about her reputation.
Doria was attracted to his gentlemanly nature and financial stability.
Despite her father’s disapproval, she manipulated Thomas into marrying her, claiming financial hardship.
Unlike Meghan, who didn’t invite her father to her wedding, Doria invited the rest of her family.
After the wedding, Doria decided to leave the film industry and convinced her husband to open a travel company for her.
She quickly became pregnant, and Meghan, the future Duchess of Sussex, was born.
Although Doria didn’t find the wealthy actor husband she desired, Thomas had a good salary and connections in the industry.
However, their marriage didn’t last.
Doria used Thomas’s money to hire a lawyer and filed for alimony, claiming that he was an aggressive alcoholic and a danger to their child.
Thomas, devastated by losing his job, reputation, and family, spiraled into depression and heavy drinking.
Doria not only sued for alimony but also testified against him in criminal cases.
She even demanded sole custody of Meghan, alleging that Thomas was unfit to be a father.
Doria won all the court cases, leaving Thomas with debts and criminal charges.
She enjoyed a comfortable life, thanks to alimony and income from the travel agency.
Meanwhile, Thomas constantly pleaded to see his daughter, but Meghan had little desire to meet him.

In the end, the jury ruled in his favor.
Doria faced up to 15 years in prison for financial fraud but received a four-year sentence thanks to Thomas hiring her a good lawyer.
It seems that Thomas has been treated unfairly throughout his life.
