Backlash Ensues as Sir Trevor Phillips Makes Controversial Remarks about Meghan Markle
Sir Trevor Phillips has come under fire for his scathing comments regarding Meghan Markle.
The former politician claimed that the Duchess of Sussex had to learn how to embrace her black heritage after marrying Prince Harry.
Speaking on Peers Morgan’s show, Sir Trevor stated that Meghan never considered herself as black before joining the Royal Family.
However, supporters of the Sussexes have rushed to Meghan’s defense, criticizing the broadcaster for his remarks.
Social media users were quick to respond to a clip of the conversation, slamming Sir Trevor for his comments on such a sensitive topic.

One user, going by the name Stormbird, questioned the meaning behind Sir Trevor’s statement, asking, “How do you learn to be black?
How do you learn to be white, Hispanic, or Asian, for that matter?”
This user argued that the emphasis on racial identity only serves to exacerbate divisions and problems.
Another user, alazonkts200, echoed these sentiments, stating that a person’s race is an integral part of who they are and shapes their life experiences.
They criticized Sir Trevor for his lack of understanding, asking, “What the hell does he even mean?”
A third user, myrtleknits, questioned why Sir Trevor suddenly felt the need to involve himself in the abuse directed towards Meghan.
They argued that he should be aware of Meghan’s background, as her mother is black and she herself has spoken openly about being biracial.
They urged others to put an end to this form of nasty abuse.
During his appearance on the chat show, Sir Trevor defended his remarks by highlighting Meghan’s privileged upbringing.
He explained, “I think people misunderstand who Meghan Markle is.
