Commentators suggest that Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, “tried as much as possible to help [Meghan Markle] as she entered the royal fray.”

The Duchess of Cambridge’s relationship with her sister-in-law apparently includes some mentoring in their early months of knowing each other. ‘Kate: Our Queen in Waiting,’ a Channel 5 documentary, addressed what kind of support the Duchess of Sussex may have received.

But according to Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s book Finding Freedom, Meghan hoped for a deep bond with the Duchess of Cambridge, who they claim avoided the former actor.

“Their relationship hadn’t progressed much since she was Harry’s girlfriend. Although Meghan might have understood Kate’s wariness to strike up a meaningful friendship, they were still no closer by the time she was a fellow senior working member of the royal family and the wife of William’s brother,” Scobie and Durand wrote, as per The Times.

“Flowers for her birthday were nice, but Meghan would far rather have had Kate check in on her during the most difficult times with the press… Meghan was disappointed that she and Kate hadn’t bonded over the position they shared, but she wasn’t losing sleep over it,” the writers added.

During an interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that before marrying Prince Harry, she understood very little about royal protocol.

According to reports, Kate assisted Meghan with “English conventions” that she may not have considered as a “arriving American.”

“…all those unspoken rules that you need to follow if you’re a royal.”

“Kate, of course, then invited Meghan to Wimbledon with her,” Vanity Fair Royal Editor Katie Nicholl added.

“They went to the polo together,” she told Channel 5.

“That makes me think that when it’s her time to be the Queen, she herself is going to be kind and warm and opening to successive generations,” Bidisha went on.

Mail on Sunday Royal Editor Emily Andrews revealed that Kate offered to introduce the new royal to any clothes designers she knew.

“Kate did try as much as possible to help Meghan as she entered the royal fray.”

During the former actress’ time as a member of the Royal Family, Kate and Meghan attended a number of royal engagements together.

According to the documentary narrator, this created a “positive image” for the monarchy’s future, and by early 2018, Kate, Meghan, Prince William, and Prince Harry were dubbed the “Fab Four”

But there were squabbles, with Meghan previously telling Oprah that a comment made by her sister-in-law prior to Harry’s wedding in 2018 had her “in tears.”

“A few days before the wedding, [Kate] was upset about something pertaining – yes, the issue was correct – about flower girl dresses.”

“It made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings.”

Meanwhile, recent rumors claimed Meghan made “secret calls” to her sister-in-law in an attempt to mend their “rift.”

Prince William and Prince Harry have also been described as having a ‘feud’ for a number of years.

The duo will, however, present a united face when they stand side by side at the unveiling of a statue to their late mother, Princess Diana, on July 1.
