Florence Pugh talks s-x scenes with Harry Styles

Actress Florence Pugh has urged audiences to look beyond her s^x scenes with Harry Styles in the upcoming psychological thriller, Don’t Worry Darling.

The film, directed by Olivia Wilde, attracted significant attention after Styles was cast in 2020 and when he went public with his relationship with Wilde in early 2021.

Pugh spoke about the media storm surrounding the film in an interview with Harper’s BAZAAR for the magazine’s September 2022 cover story.

Although Don’t Worry Darling is now completed, fans tracked paparazzi photos of Styles on set since production began almost two years ago.

When the official trailer was released in May, the internet focused on a teased s^x scene between Pugh and Styles.

However, Pugh insists that there is more to the movie than just that scene.

“When it’s reduced to your s^x scenes, or to watch the most famous man in the world go down on someone, it’s not why we do it,” she said.

“It’s not why I’m in this industry.”

Pugh acknowledged the conversations that arise when hiring a high-profile celebrity like Styles but emphasized that the film is “bigger and better than that.” She expressed her admiration for the crew and team of nurses who kept everyone on set safe amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“If I shout about one thing, it’s that these people made that movie happen,” she said.

Don’t Worry Darling is a psychological thriller set in the 1950s, where Pugh plays the lead role of Alice.

The film follows Alice, a housewife who begins to question her reality and sanity after discovering a disturbing truth about her husband, played by Chris Pine.

Styles plays Jack, a mysterious outsider who shakes things up in Alice’s community.

Pugh spoke about the challenges of playing a character in a time period with a vastly different social landscape.

“I had to ask myself, ‘How can I navigate through this as a modern-day feminist?'” she said.

“There were a few times where I had to say to Olivia, ‘I don’t know how to do this, I don’t know how to play this scene,’ and she would say, ‘Let’s figure it out together.’ It was an exploration for all of us.”

Pugh also praised Wilde’s direction, saying that she had created a safe and collaborative environment on set.

“She had such a clear vision and such an energy that people wanted to work for her,” Pugh said.

“She’s such a supportive person, and she cares about everyone.”

The 26-year-old actress has been making waves in the industry since her breakout role in the 2016 film Lady Macbeth.

She received an Oscar nomination in 2020 for her supporting role in Little Women and has since starred in critically acclaimed movies like Midsommar and Black Widow.

Pugh spoke about her journey in the film industry, saying that she is still figuring things out.

“I’m trying to create a career where I’m not making the same film twice and where I’m constantly challenging myself,” she said.

“I don’t think I’m there yet, but I’m certainly trying.”
