WME Cancels Contract with Meg as Dior Denies Partnership Rumors

In a surprising turn of events, talent agency WME has decided to cancel its contract with Meghan Markle, following her recent PR stunt.

It all started back in April when Markle signed up with WME, with the agency’s mission being to revamp her image amidst the negative publicity surrounding her and her husband’s strained relationship with the royal family.

Speculations were rife in Hollywood that the Duchess of Sussex’s next move would be to sign a lucrative deal with French fashion giant Dior, potentially earning her an astounding $20 million over three years.

However, it seems that Markle may have jumped the gun on this one.

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for Dior in Paris dismissed the reports as baseless, emphasizing that there have been no negotiations or recent contact with Markle.

Not only did they debunk the contract rumor, but they also clarified that they haven’t been in touch with her at all.

Did Markle assume that WME would simply secure the deal for her?

It’s a possibility, considering her mindset.

Nonetheless, this incident serves as a prime example of Markle derailing her own train.

As a working royal, Markle would not have been allowed to accept money from such endorsements, as they are prohibited from receiving any additional income.

Josh Herbert, a stylist and founder of Captain Crepes, explained that although Markle has been considered a fashion influencer for years, she couldn’t officially become a brand ambassador or be paid to promote a label.

The tradition among senior royals has been to favor specific designers, even though they are not permitted to collaborate with them.

This unofficial endorsement serves as excellent PR for the companies involved.

Herbert further noted that other members of the extended royal family use their connections to become legitimate brand ambassadors and earn some extra cash.

This phenomenon is not limited to the UK alone.

In Monaco, for instance, Charlotte Casigari, the 11th in line to the throne and niece of Prince Albert, has acted as the face of Gucci’s cosmetics line.

The rumors surrounding Markle potentially becoming the Duchess of Dior come on the heels of a Spotify executive referring to her and Prince Harry as “fucking grifters.”

This comment followed the couple’s sudden termination of their approximately $25 million deal with the streaming giant.

Bill Simmons, the head of podcast innovation and monetization at Spotify, shared his thoughts on his self-titled podcast, calling them “grifters” and expressing regret for not launching a podcast with Prince Harry.

He even teased that he had an interesting story about a Zoom call with Harry to help him with his podcast idea.

Last Friday, Spotify officially terminated its contract with Meghan and Harry, citing their failure to produce enough content for Meghan’s podcast Archetypes.

Despite managing to deliver only about 13 hours of podcast material over three years, which focused on stereotypes against women, both parties claimed the split was mutual.

In conclusion, WME’s decision to sever ties with Meghan Markle, coupled with Dior’s denial of any partnership negotiations, has left the Duchess in a precarious position.

It seems that her eagerness to secure a deal with Dior may have backfired, leading to disappointment and further scrutiny.
