Toronto Police Chief Rejects Meghan Markle’s Claims of Neglect in Protecting Her During Relationship with Prince Harry

Toronto Police Chief James Raymer has responded to allegations made by the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, that his officers failed to provide adequate protection for her when she was living in Toronto.

In a documentary, Meghan claimed that she was constantly followed by paparazzi during her time in the city, but Mr. Raymer insists that his officers did an excellent job in ensuring her safety.

He also remarked that there will always be people who are never satisfied.

The police chief firmly rejected Meghan’s claims that she was left unprotected when she began dating Prince Harry.

Responding to the couple’s assertions in the documentary, he stated that his officers routinely monitored the situation and took her complaints seriously.

Meghan, who was working as an actress on the TV show “Suits” at the time, also alleged that neighbors were paid to install security cameras directed towards her property.

However, Mr. Raymer, an officer with 42 years of experience, suggested that these claims were inaccurate.

He emphasized that the officers under his command were highly professional and diligently carried out their duties in protecting VIPs.

Despite Meghan’s allegations, the police chief expressed confidence in the work done by his team.

In the Netflix series “Harry and Meghan,” the Duchess spoke extensively about the pressure she felt after news broke of her relationship with Prince Harry.

She claimed that the Toronto police failed to take her complaints about being stalked by photographers seriously.

Meghan questioned whether the police would consider her situation stalking if any other woman in Toronto reported having six men constantly surveilling her.

The Duchess further disclosed that some of her neighbors had installed live-stream cameras to monitor her movements.

However, Mr. Raymer dismissed these allegations, stating that he knew numerous detectives and officers who took her concerns seriously.

He emphasized that the focus of his colleagues was always on ensuring the safety of individuals and that they had responded appropriately to Meghan’s situation.

A columnist who covered crime at the time corroborated Mr. Raymer’s statements, calling the claims that the Toronto police let the royal couple down “ludicrous.”

He revealed that there were even pictures taken by a retired Toronto Sun photographer showing the police presence on Meghan’s street.

The columnist also recalled additional security measures being implemented when Meghan and Prince Harry attended Invictus Games events.

While it is undeniable that Meghan faced increased media attention during her time in Canada, there is no evidence to support her claims that security cameras were installed to spy on her.

The police chief’s response effectively debunks her narrative, highlighting the efforts made by the Toronto police to address her concerns and ensure her safety.

In conclusion, Meghan Markle’s allegations of negligence by the Toronto police force have been vehemently rejected by Police Chief James Raymer.

He maintains that his officers did an excellent job in protecting her during her time in Toronto.

With both the chief and a columnist supporting the police’s actions, it appears that Meghan’s claims lack credibility.
