Shailene Woodley to write a book on masturbation

Actress Shailene Woodley has opened up about her lifelong “dream” to write a book on female masturbation.

In an interview with Net-A-Porter’s The Edit, Woodley discusses the importance of women learning how to pleasure themselves.

She explains that many young women are not taught enough about their own bodies, saying, “As a young woman you don’t learn how to pleasure yourself, you don’t learn what an orgasm should be, you don’t learn that you should have feelings of satisfaction.”

Woodley, who gained fame playing Amy Juergens on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, has been an advocate for women’s sexual health since her role as a pregnant teen on the show.

She believes that masturbation should be taught in schools to help reduce the number of teens who contract herpes or become pregnant at a young age.

“I’ve always had a dream of making a book called There’s No Right Way to Masturbate,” Woodley says.

The Snowden star hopes that her book will help educate women about their bodies and encourage them to explore their sexuality.

Woodley’s interest in self-love extends beyond masturbation.

She credits her grandmother with teaching her the importance of taking care of herself.

“The most important thing in life is self-love,” Woodley recalls her grandmother saying.

“You’ve gotta take care of yourself. You’ve got to take care of yourself, and you gotta live from your deep heart.”

Woodley is not the only celebrity advocating for better sexual education.

Stars like Emma Watson, Lena Dunham, and Amber Rose have also spoken out about the importance of sex education and destigmatizing discussions around sexuality.

In a recent interview with Glamour, Emma Watson discussed her own struggles with sexual education.

“I wish someone had told me that it’s OK to be unsure about sex,” she said.

“That it’s OK to be unsure about your sexuality. That it’s OK to be unsure about consent.”

Lena Dunham, creator of the HBO series Girls, has also been vocal about the importance of sexual education.
