Salma Hayek Recalls Filming ‘Horrific’ Mud Bath Scene with Lady Gaga
While House of Gucci may be the most stylish film of the year, Salma Hayek claims that certain parts were less so.
The 55-year-old actress told host James Corden during a Thursday interview on The Late Late Show about a “very dramatic” mud bath sequence she recorded with costar Lady Gaga for the upcoming film that had her “mortified.”
In the new film, the actor portrays Pina Auriemma, a friend and confidante of Lady Gaga’s Patrizia Reggiani, the woman convicted of organizing the killing of her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci, the former head of the Gucci fashion empire.
Hayek said, “I’ve never done a mud bath.”
“Once you’re in, you’re naked… Well not completely, we had something underneath but nothing on top – and the thing is that, in my head, I was going to sink,” she recalled.

The Eternals actress described her character as a “sidekick” to Reggiani, claiming that all of her parts were with the “Born This Way” singer, but that the mud bath scene was especially bonding for the two actors.
Gaga, 35, was able to slip in “like an Egyptian queen,” while Hayek was unable to do so. The Eternals actress stated earlier in the interview that she had acquired weight particularly for the role.

“Me, with my extra kilos, I sit on the mud and I’m not sinking,” she said. “And I’m trying to [move the mud away from] my huge butt to make some weight [shift].”
She added: “And then it starts moving me around and then there’s the boobs going [back and forth], you know. It’s a very dramatic scene and she’s trying to stay focused and… I’m mortified.”
Gaga was “trying to stay focused” on the action the entire time, she claimed.
“One leg [was] up, and then I go sink in[to the bath],” Hayek recounted. “It was horrific, [the] most challenging scene I’ve ever done.”
The film also stars Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Jared Leto, and Jeremy Irons, in addition to Hayek and Gaga.
The actresses have recently been seen together on the red carpet for the film’s several premieres in advance of its November 24 theatrical release.
