Princess Diana’s boyfriend bought her “engagement ring” on night of tragic death
Dodi Al-Fayed was seen early on the evening of August 30 visiting the Repossi jewellers opposite the Ritz Hotel, which was run by his father, according to a compilation of CCTV footage.
Dodi’s father, Mohamed, says the pair got engaged later that night and that when British security services found out, along with the fact that Diana was pregnant, they were ordered to murder them by Prince Philip.
Diana, 36, Dodi, 42, and chauffeur Henri Paul died early on August 31 when their Mercedes limousine plunged in a Paris road tunnel as they raced away from the Ritz, chased by paparazzi.
A Diamond ring
Dodi Al Fayed selected a diamond-encrusted ring for Diana, Princess of Wales, hours before her death, according to the inquiry into her demise.
The ring was a “tell me yes” ring, according to Claude Roulet, the Ritz hotel president’s assistant.

The ring was defined as a “engagement ring” on the receipt, but Mr Roulet claims Mr Al Fayed never mentioned an engagement while he was selecting it.
The ring cost 115,000 francs (£11,500) according to a receipt shown to the jury.
Mr Roulet told the jurors that on the night of August 30, 1997, he brought a number of rings and jewellery to the suite at the Ritz and that Mr Al Fayed whispered so that the princess would not notice.
From a range of jewelry that included watches and bracelets, he selected the jewel-encrusted “Dis-moi Oui” or “Tell me Yes” ring.
Dodi never gave it to Diana, but it was discovered after the accident in his hotel room.
Mr Roulet denied claims that the princess picked the ring, claiming that she had previously requested Mr Al Fayed for a “simple gold ring” when the pair were on vacation in Monte Carlo.
Second ring
Princess Diana’s partner, Dodi, who was very rich, had previously brought her another ring.
He was the son of billionaire Mohamed El Fayed. In July, he and Diana began dating but tragically, died just a month later.
Diana was seen wearing a Bulgari gold band with diamonds shortly before her death.
The gold band, though, was not an engagement ring, and Diana made a point of wearing it on her right hand rather than her left.
