The British public has speculated that Prince Harry will return to the palace at some point, but in somewhat different circumstances.

A majority of readers believe the Duke of Sussex will rejoin the royal family, but without his duchess, Meghan Markle, according to a new poll conducted by Express UK.

“Do you think Harry and Meghan will want to return to the Royal Family one day?” was one of the five questions posed.

Harry would return without Meghan, according to 50% of the answers, while Meghan would return on her own, according to less than 1%. Meanwhile, 6% of those surveyed believed they would come together.

Some users also think Harry and Meghan’s marriage would be short-lived.

“I don’t think their marriage will last, and Harry will most likely return to the Royal fold. He can shield his boats from fire until the day he needs them,” one user suggested.

“If Megan divorces Harry, he’ll want to come back,” another reader predicted.

“It’s safer for the family if they’re not there. Think M will only return if it’s helpful to her/them, because even if they get booed, they’ll be in the press, which helps them to play the victim card,” another wrote.

“Now H, if the relationship ends, he’ll return to Britain, but not to active Royalty, because he’ll have burned all his bridges by then,” a reader added.

The readers also expressed their views about why they wished the Duke would return on his own.

“I think Harry wants to return, and she would return if she was made Queen, it’s all about power with her!” one user wrote.

“Another wrote, “Harry and Megan will never return to the family, ever; it’s over and done with, and people couldn’t care less.”

“I really believe the family would be better off without them,” said a third.

“I see it resulting in divorce unless they get intensive therapy and promise to focus on being honest, to work on apologizing to anyone they’ve upset over the course of this two-year charade,” she argued.

“Nothing in all of this has been truthful, and the Royals have been severely harmed, particularly now.”

“Maybe he’s already disputing it.” Come on, he needs to be if he has a working frontal lobe! He isn’t 12 years old. He served in the military, so he’s got to have a sense of,  ‘Oh my God, everything you said to me was a lie.’

“What man would be happy or comfortable with that?” Samantha continued. If they don’t get good counsellors, I assume things will get ugly the minute he starts dissenting or stepping back from her. “I’m not sure what it would take.”

Meghan is estranged from both her dad, Thomas Markle, and her sister, Samantha, who published a book slamming Meghan after she fell in love with Harry.
