Prince Harry Faces Backlash Over Controversial Interviews, Popularity Plummets in UK and US

Prince Harry has found himself at the center of a storm of criticism following a series of controversial interviews with American media.

His bombshell interview alongside Meghan Markle on Oprah Winfrey’s show was just the beginning, as his popularity took a nosedive among both American and British people.

Recent interventions from Harry have only worsened the situation, with his public image plummeting in both the UK and the US.

Charlie Ray, former Royal Editor at The Sun, expressed his concerns during an interview on TalkRadio, stating, “This guy was a hero in Britain and now he is the zero, I’m afraid.

His popularity has gone right down.”

A recent poll revealed that 54% of people simply wished Harry would stop speaking out.

Radio host Kevin O’Sullivan added, “The popularity polls for him and Meghan on both sides of the Atlantic are plummeting.

He made the serious mistake a couple of weeks back of questioning America’s sacred First Amendment — which is about freedom of speech.

Americans do not take kindly to interlopers who turn up in their country and criticize it.”

Criticism has not been limited to the UK; Harry has faced significant backlash within America as well.

His comments about the First Amendment during a podcast with Dax Shepard ignited a firestorm of anger.

Sean Hannity, the anchor of one of the top evening news shows in the US, launched into a tirade, referring to Harry as a “right royal pain in the a**.”

Amber Athey, Washington editor of the Spectator US, pleaded, “As an American, in the words of former President Donald Trump, you all are not sending your best.

I would beg you, please take Prince Harry back.”

The discontent towards Harry and Meghan is not limited to media personalities.

A Newsweek poll showed that over half of Britons want to hear less from the couple, with only 18% wanting more.

The sentiment is even stronger among older generations, with 71% of those over 65 wishing to know less about the Duke and Duchess.

Additionally, 39% disapprove of Prince Harry speaking publicly about his royal upbringing, compared to 36% who approve.

In the US, negative opinions towards the couple have also increased.

A YouGov poll conducted after the Oprah Winfrey interview revealed that 44% of Americans did not sympathize with Harry and Meghan’s decision to leave the royal family, while only 40% did.

Furthermore, Prince Harry’s unfavorable ratings rose by 9 points compared to a year ago, from 17% to 26%, and Meghan Markle’s negative ratings increased by 10 points, from 23% to 33%.

The backlash against Prince Harry highlights the delicate nature of public opinion and the consequences of controversial statements.

As a prominent figure, Harry’s comments have sparked outrage among both British and American audiences.

The fallout from these interviews serves as a reminder that even those in positions of privilege must navigate carefully when discussing sensitive topics, especially in foreign lands.
