Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Wedding Cake : All we know

The wedding cake for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has been unveiled, and it is absolutely stunning! For Harry and Meghan’s wedding reception, London-based baker Claire Ptak and her team made a lemon elderflower cake.

It’s a far cry from the colossal monstrosities that have graced royal ceremonies in the past. The levels are “rough iced” and topped with new flowers, and they’re all on different platforms.

Kensington Palace has just provided a sneak preview of the dessert that has been making headlines around the world, and it’s looking incredible.

The royal wedding cake looks simple and beautiful with its numerous sponge layers and buttercream icing. There are hints of what the final product would be like strewn about the kitchen. The color scheme is clearly influenced by spring, with hundreds of roses and bowls of lemons.

Ptak was a good choice for the health-conscious pair because she uses “seasonal and organic ingredients in her cakes” and Markle had previously featured the chef on her now-defunct lifestyle website, The Tig.

The couple’s choice of a lemon elderflower cake for their Windsor Castle reception surprised many, as most royal wedding cakes are usually fruit cake. However, Harry and Meghan defied convention by opting for a spring-themed cake with buttercream frosting and new flowers.

The Palace posted photographs and a video of Ptak’s staff working on the cake in the Buckingham Palace kitchen the day before the wedding. Although  the cake is being baked and iced at the Palace, Ptak announced that the cake will be assembled at Windsor Castle on Saturday morning.

A photo of a buttercream-frosted cake sprinkled with fresh flowers, similar to Harry and Meghan’s, was posted the same day.

Violet is described by Tatler (via The Telegraph) as a “East London hotspot,” that sells “the best American-style bakes around.” Fans of the royal wedding would want to visit Ptak’s bakery after seeing Harry and Meghan’s delicious-looking wedding cake.
