Prince Charles spent £1 Million a year on Meghan Markle’s CLOTHES
Being dressed as a royal outing costs a lot. Meghan Markle’s latest wardrobe has cost about £1 million since she became engaged to Prince Harry, according to one royal expert.
The cost of Markle’s dresses from her first one-on-one encounter with the Queen to her wedding gown was estimated by Entertainment Tonight, proving that designer duds add up quickly. Her wedding gowns are by far the most costly on the list, with her Givenchy wedding gown costing over £320,000 and her Stella McCartney reception gown costing around £117,000.

The remainder of her bespoke wardrobe, by contrast, tends to be a bargain – a word that is arbitrary when it comes to designer products. The Givenchy cape dress she wore on her first solo appointment with the Queen cost £13,000, the pale pink Carolina Herrera dress she wore to Trooping the Colour cost £3,000, an Oscar de la Renta dress she wore to Prince Harry’s cousin’s wedding cost nearly £5,500, and the sheer Goat dress she wore to Prince Charles’ birthday party cost just over £450. That’s in addition to a Prada skirt suit she wore to the Young Leaders Awards Ceremony and a slew of other occasions where she’s donned designer ensembles, most often Givenchy, along with shoes and accessories.
WHO IS PAYING?
So, who’s footing the bill for this Givenchy-heavy wardrobe? The bill is being paid by her new father-in-law, Prince Charles, who uses the money from his £20 million annual salary, according to journalist and royal analyst Kate Nicholl. Being a royal needs a full-time engagement. Markle, like her current sister-in-law Kate Middleton, is likely to have a personal assistant who makes recommendations to designers for samples to select from. The price of whatever she chooses is then paid in full.
Meghan Markle spent £500,000 on clothing in just six months, the most of any European royal.
Last year, Meghan Markle spent almost half a million pounds on clothing, the most of any royal woman in Europe.
Despite only becoming a royal for a little over six months before she became a Duchess in May, the 37-year-old outshopped any other royal woman in Europe.
Meghan spent £427,972 (€478,089) on fashion while pregnant, almost five times more than every other princess – and it doesn’t include bespoke items for which the price is undisclosed.
The cost of a new piece of fashion debuted by royal women across Europe was estimated by royal fashion experts Unidentified Fashion Object (UFO) No More, who published the breakdown.
“The Duchess of Sussex has taken over the top spot in her first year as a royal,” according to the website.
Despite only getting 256 items out of 324 listed, the Duchess invested the most, with the website stating that the true expense of her wardrobe is “likely higher.”
