Michelle Obama NOT surprised by Meghan’s racism allegations
As someone who has undergone racism and is no outsider to the public eye, Michelle Obama commented on Oprah Winfrey’s controversial conversation with Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.
Former US first lady Michelle Obama has said it “wasn’t a complete surprise” to hear the Duchess of Sussex’s claims of racism within the Royal Family.
The claims Meghan made during her interview with Oprah Winfrey were characterized by Mrs Obama as “heartbreaking to hear.”
Obama discussed Meghan’s experiences with the family in an interview with Jenna Bush Hager on NBC’s “Today” special.
“Race isn’t a new construct in this world for people of color. So it wasn’t a complete surprise to hear her feelings and to have them articulated,” during the interview on Tuesday, Obama said.

Meghan revealed that an unidentified royal family member had questioned Harry “how dark” their son Archie’s skin might be.
“Public service, it’s a bright, sharp, hot spotlight, and most people don’t understand it, and nor should they. The thing that I always keep in mind is that none of this is about us in public service. It’s about the people that we serve It’s more about the people we support.
“I always try to push the light back out and focus it on the folks that we are actually here to serve.”
Mrs Obama said she “prays for forgiveness and healing for them” and that the interview will be a “teachable moment for us all”
“The thing that I hope for, and the thing I think about,” Obama said, “is that this first and foremost is a family.”
“And I pray for forgiveness and healing for them so that they can use this as a teachable moment for us all.”
The race points raised by Meghan, 39, and Harry, 36, are “concerning,” according to Buckingham Palace, and will be “taken very seriously” and dealt with privately.
During her chat with Jenna, Obama also discussed her newest project, “Waffles and Mochi,” a Netflix instructional show for kids that draws on her love for educating kids about healthier eating.
Obama told Jenna, “It’s my favorite project.” .
“This isn’t just a kid show. It’s a family show, and that’s what drew me to it.”
