Meghan Markle’s Podcast Series Receives Cold Reception with Overwhelming Majority Declining to Listen

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, launched her highly-anticipated podcast series earlier this week.

However, a recent poll has revealed that the majority of readers have no interest in tuning in.

The first episode of the Archetypes podcast series, titled “The Misconceptions of Ambition with Serena Williams,” features Meghan engaging in a candid conversation with her tennis star friend about motherhood, pregnancy, and the societal expectations placed on ambitious women.

Throughout the hour-long episode, Meghan also interviewed Dr. Laura Kay and shared personal anecdotes about her own struggles with ambition.

She even recounted a harrowing experience during a royal tour in South Africa back in 2019 when her son Archie narrowly escaped a fire.

The Archetypes podcast was initially announced as an exploration of the labels that hold women back, with Meghan vowing to present her authentic self while conversing intimately with friends, historians, and experts.

The series is set to include 12 episodes, featuring discussions with prominent figures and experts on the topic of female stereotypes.

In a recent poll conducted from August 24 to August 26, readers were asked if they would be listening to Meghan Markle’s podcast series.

Out of the 15,493 respondents, a staggering 98% (15,207 people) answered with a resounding “no.”

Only 2% (230 people) expressed interest in listening, while an additional 56 people remained undecided.

The accompanying article drew hundreds of comments from readers discussing the Duchess’s latest venture.

Many expressed their disinterest in Archetypes, with one user named letsjustsay stating, “Life is too short to listen.”

Another user named napensari simply remarked, “I have better things to do.”

Similar sentiments were echoed by users rothfull and wiser1, who both emphatically declared their lack of interest in the podcast.

User mekelmal90y went as far as to say, “Not even if I were paid to.”

Furthermore, some readers even went as far as to cancel their Spotify subscriptions in response to Meghan’s podcast.

User swoop2012 declared, “No way, not wasting my time, and I have closed my account.”

Meanwhile, user interestedreader announced, “Not only will I not listen, but I’m also not renewing my Spotify subscription.”

It is worth noting that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a multi-year podcast partnership with Spotify after stepping down from their roles as senior working royals in 2020.

However, it appears that their latest endeavor has not been met with the same level of enthusiasm.

In a separate development, Netflix executives have reportedly held emergency meetings with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry due to public backlash.

The entertainment newsletter The Anchor revealed this information through an inside source.

The source explained that Netflix was concerned about the fallout from the cancellation of the couple’s show, “Pearl,” as well as declining subscriber counts.

In response, Harry and Meghan called for an all-hands meeting to address these concerns.

The source even mentioned that Meghan herself expressed a desire to speak directly with Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix.

This news comes shortly after royal commentator Daniela Elza criticized the couple’s lack of success in the US and suggested that their novelty factor had worn off.

Elza argued that having titles and access to the Buckingham Palace Wi-Fi password was not enough for big companies to invest millions in working with them.

She emphasized the need for Harry and Meghan to prove themselves through action rather than relying on their royal connections.

In conclusion, Meghan Markle’s podcast series has faced a lukewarm response, with the majority of readers showing little interest in listening.
