Meghan Markle’s Podcast Dropped by Spotify: A Royal Nightmare for Broadcasters

Royal expert Dan Wooten has criticized Meghan Markle, branding her as every broadcaster’s worst nightmare following her departure from Spotify.

The Duchess of Sussex was let go by the streaming platform after just one series of her Archetypes podcast, which consisted of 12 episodes.

Although discussions were reportedly held for a second series, it was ultimately canceled.

According to Wooten, Spotify made efforts to support Markle’s podcast by building a studio in the couple’s Montecito mansion, which was made possible by their contract and helped secure their mortgage.

However, in return, Meghan continuously bombarded the company’s top executives with last-minute requests for changes to her own podcast.

This behavior led to her being labeled as a nightmare for broadcasters.

Wooten’s comments come after Meghan Markle faced harsh criticism from Jeremy Zimmer, the chief executive of the United Talent Agency, during an interview at Semaphore in Cannes.

Zimmer stated that being famous does not automatically equate to possessing talent, and Markle was not considered a great audio talent or any kind of talent at all.

Earlier this month, Spotify announced that it would not be renewing its deal with Archwell Audio, effectively ending Meghan’s podcast on the platform.

In a joint statement, both parties claimed to have mutually agreed to part ways and expressed pride in the series they had created together.

Speculation arose regarding the future of Meghan and Harry’s collaboration with Netflix after Wooten suggested in his column that the streaming platform was dissatisfied with their output.

However, Netflix quickly dismissed these rumors.

A spokesperson for Netflix assured Entertainment Tonight that the couple’s journey with the platform was far from over and that they were currently working on several projects, including the highly anticipated documentary series, Heart of Invictus.

Heart of Invictus, set to be released in August this year, will follow a group of service people as they prepare to compete in the Invictus Games tournament held in The Hague.

While their history with Netflix has been a mix of success and setbacks, their explosive series, Harry and Meghan, proved to be one of the streaming giant’s biggest hits last year.

Millions of viewers tuned in to hear the couple reveal details about their relationship and experiences as working royals.

However, not all of their projects have fared well.

Netflix recently canceled their animated series, Pearl, due to budget constraints.

The show, centered around a 12-year-old girl inspired by powerful women in history, was still in development when it was axed.

Meghan, who was set to be an executive producer alongside David Furnish, expressed her disappointment but remained optimistic about future endeavors.

In conclusion, Meghan Markle’s podcast being dropped by Spotify has raised concerns about her talent and compatibility with the broadcasting world.

Despite this setback, the couple’s partnership with Netflix remains strong, with new projects in the pipeline.
