Meghan Markle’s Awkward Encounter with Prince William and Kate Revealed
In the highly anticipated Netflix documentary series by the Sussexes, Meghan Markle opened up about her first meeting with Prince William and Kate, the Princess of Wales, which took an unexpected turn.
According to Meghan, her tendency to embrace others was met with discomfort by William and Kate.
However, doubts have been raised about this claim after a video resurfaced showing Kate engaging in a warm hug with a member of the public.
The heartwarming clip dates back to 2018 when Kate, then seven months pregnant with Prince Louis, visited the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
During the visit, she spotted her former midwife, Professor Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent, and without hesitation, rushed over to give her an enormous hug.

This gesture of affection contradicts Meghan’s assertion that hugging was not well-received by the royal couple.
A royal fan account, Celtic Tribesmen, shared the video on Twitter, expressing their emotional response to the touching moment.
They wrote, “Every time I see this video of Catherine, Princess of Wales, hugging her midwife, I get so teary-eyed.
It’s such a wonderful display of affection and acknowledgement.”
This tweet highlights Kate’s consistent willingness to engage intimately with well-wishers, even during her recent trip to the US alongside Prince William.
Despite Meghan’s claims, Kate has continued to embrace an informal approach, even if it goes against royal tradition.
In her Netflix interview, Meghan mentioned that during her first encounter with Prince William and Kate, she was dressed in ripped jeans and was barefoot.
She admitted, “I remember I was in ripped jeans and I was barefoot.
Like I was a hugger, I’ve always been a hugger.
I didn’t realize that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.
