Meghan Markle’s half-brother has accused her of lying about who paid her university tuition. Meghan Markle was accused of telling a “straight out lie” when she said she paid her own university tuition fees, according to Thomas Markle Jr. Meghan believed she accomplished this through part-time jobs, scholarships, and her own hard work, similar to the vast majority of those that go through the university system around the world; however, some might question why this was initially celebrated so unanimously.

Thomas Markle Jr. has backed up his father’s allegations that Meghan didn’t pay for her own tuition at Northwestern University. “The only thing I want to call her out on is lying on stage when she did that little…,” Markle Jr said. I’m not sure what country she was in, but she was showing a group of people how, like me, they could put themselves through college with hard work, discipline, and a career. That was a complete fabrication. My father paid for her entire college education.”

Meghan said during her first overseas royal tour on October 24, 2018, during a visit to the University of the South Pacific, “As a university graduate, I know the personal feeling of pride and excitement that comes with attending university.” I’m also well aware of the difficulties many people – including myself – face in being able to afford this level of education. I was able to attend university due to scholarships, financial aid services, and work-study, where my earnings from a campus job went directly toward my tuition.”

Meghan’s half-brother says that their father has “all the receipts” to back up his claims, and that “for her to do a public lie about that, that hurt my dad’s feelings as well,” adding, “and that is why he is coming out and doing interviews and things like that because he wants the truth out there.” Few people are likely to begrudge Meghan her father’s financial support, but her virtue signaling, combined with allegations of lying about her path to monarchy, is unlikely to help Meghan’s public profile.
