Meghan Markle Denied Wearing Spencer Tiara: A Tale of Family Disapproval

Meghan Markle, the former actress who married Prince Harry, was not permitted to wear the renowned Spencer tiara.

It is understandable since she was not marrying into the Spencer family, but rather into the royal family.

Although her late mother-in-law, Diana Princess of Wales, was born a Spencer, neither of her sons, Prince William nor Harry, carry their mother’s surname.

They are known as Royals or Windsors.

Furthermore, Meghan Markle does not have any blood ties to the Spencer family.

In his book, “Revenge,” acclaimed author and journalist Tom Bower revealed that Prince William and his wife Catherine were left perplexed by Harry’s claim that Meghan embodied his late mother.

This claim gained attention when a tweet from a user named Meg’s a tear Robin Lin King surfaced.

The tweet suggested that the Queen’s staff had given Meghan a hard time regarding her wedding tiara.

It even mentioned that the Spencers had offered Meghan the Spencer tiara, and a wedding veil was designed to complement it.

According to Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” he claimed that his mother’s family had offered Meghan the opportunity to wear the Spencer tiara, with the veil’s scalloped edges designed to match it.

This information was supposedly sourced from an article published by the Sussex’s favorite publication, which intended to sue the Daily Mail.

However, it is worth noting that the Spencer tiara is not personally owned by Diana.

Instead, it is an heirloom passed down through generations of Spencer women.

Diana’s sisters, Baroness Jane Fellows and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, also wore the tiara on their wedding days.

The question arises as to why Charles Spencer, Diana’s brother, would allow Meghan to wear the tiara but not Catherine.

Harry believed that his uncles and aunts approved of Meghan, seeing her as a reflection of their late sister.

However, Tom Bower’s book reveals that they held a different opinion than what Harry assumed.

It is doubtful that Meghan was ever offered the Spencer tiara.

Another part of the story that has been disputed is Harry’s claim that the Queen begged Markle to wear one of the royal tiaras.

This seems highly unlikely, as the late majesty was not known for begging anyone.

It simply does not align with her style.

While Meghan never had the chance to meet the former Princess of Wales, Prince Harry hoped that his mother’s family would see similarities between the two women.

Unfortunately, he was disappointed when they failed to recognize any resemblance.

In “Revenge,” Bower discusses Harry’s introduction of Meghan to Diana’s sisters, Baroness Jane Fellows and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, as well as the late princess’s friend, Julia Samuel.

Harry believed that these individuals would identify shared problems between Diana and his fiancée, assuming they would bond over their similar experiences.

However, nobody agreed that Meghan shared anything in common with Harry’s vulnerable mother.

This lack of connection further fueled the discomfort surrounding Meghan’s fit within the royal family.

Bower goes on to claim that Prince William urged Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, to voice his concerns about Harry’s haste towards marriage.

This apparently sparked a bitter reaction from Prince Harry.
