Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Accused of Squandering Opportunity to Tackle Racism in the UK
Renowned journalist and former London Assembly Chairman Sir Trevor Phillips has accused Meghan Markle and Prince Harry of squandering a golden opportunity to showcase Britain’s progress in tackling racism.
Speaking on the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the Windrush generation, Sir Trevor criticised the Sussex Hears for constructing what he calls a ridiculous story about their mistreatment.
Sir Trevor emphasised the significant changes that British society has undergone since the arrival of the Windrush generation.
However, he expressed his disappointment in Meghan and Harry’s approach stating they could have been a beacon of discovery and reconciliation, not just for Britain but for the entire world.
Sir Trevor firmly believed that the couple had the perfect platform to showcase the progress made in matters of race in the UK.

Instead, he claims they squandered the opportunity by constructing a narrative of victimhood and mistreatment.
According to Sir Trevor, nobody believes the narrative of mistreatment and that nobody cared about Meghan’s race.
He asserts that the couple could have made a significant difference in the lives of millions of people by showcasing the inclusive, accepting nature of the country, yet they chose not to.
In Sir Trevor’s eyes, the couple’s actions are unforgivable.
He goes so far as to call their actions a sin highlighting the magnitude of his disappointment.
Sir Trevor believes that Meghan and Harry had the power to be catalysts for change, ambassadors for progress and champions of inclusivity.
Sir Trevor vehemently disputes their allegations against the British royals which ultimately led to their departure from Britain and their relocation to California.
He believes that the couple chose to perpetuate a story that he sees as baseless and unpleasant.
The accusation comes at a time when the couple is under intense scrutiny following their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.
In the interview, Meghan and Harry made several allegations of mistreatment and racism against the British royal family.
The interview has sparked a heated debate about racism in the UK and has led to calls for the monarchy to be abolished.
