Meghan is NOT in talks to become the ‘Duchess of Dior’, sources say

Reports that the Duchess of Sussex was on the verge of signing a lucrative deal to become the face of Dior have been dismissed by sources close to the Royal family.

The rumour of a potential £15m contract with the French fashion house caused a stir over the weekend, but insiders say there is no truth to the claims.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have both been seen sporting Dior clothing at recent events, and many believed the rumoured deal to be a natural next step.

A source told the Telegraph: “The Duchess of Sussex is not in talks to sign a deal with Dior.

There is no truth to the claims that she will partner with the French fashion house.”

A spokesperson for Dior added that the company was “nonplussed as to how the story came about”.

Despite the lack of a formal partnership between Meghan and Dior, the couple’s love of the fashion house is well documented.

Harry wore a Christian Dior suit for his father’s coronation, while Meghan donned a trench coat, skirt, and shirt from the Dior Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2022 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri at the National Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral last June.

Meghan’s high-profile work with Dior has been limited to her wardrobe choices, however, and recent media losses may force her to seek new revenue streams.

Last week, it was announced that Spotify would not be renewing her podcast Archetypes for a second season.

The Duchess is also said to be considering reviving her lifestyle blog The Tig to compete with Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop website.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s $20m deal with Spotify, signed in 2020, has also come under scrutiny after the couple failed to meet productivity benchmarks.

Industry experts claim they may not receive the full payout as a result.

Netflix is also reportedly conducting an “ongoing review” of its £80m deal with the couple, leaving the Duke and Duchess in need of new revenue streams to support their lifestyle.

The couple purchased their 16-bathroom Montecito mansion in 2020 for $14.65m (£11.4m) and reportedly have a $9.5m (£7.4m) mortgage on it, as well as annual property taxes of $141,403 (£113,000).

Their security costs are estimated to be around £2m a year, with additional expenses for staff, nannies, household help, gardeners, and travel.

While Meghan’s potential partnership with Dior may have been pure speculation, the Royal couple’s high-profile status and fashion choices continue to make headlines.
