King Charles III Inherits Historic Mansion, Frogmaw House, but Denies William and Kate’s Request to Occupy

King Charles III has inherited a significant amount of real estate from his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Among these properties is Frogmaw House, a 17th-century mansion located in Berkshire.

While some of the inherited residences have been actively used by the royal family, Frogmaw House has never been occupied by either Charles or Queen Elizabeth II.

Interestingly, there were rumors that the Prince and Princess of Wales had expressed a desire to make Frogmaw House their home, but their request was denied.

Frogmaw House holds great historical importance as it is a grade one listed building and serves as one of Berkshire’s most prominent landmarks.

Situated less than half a mile away from the main Windsor Castle, it was traditionally used as a residence for relatives of the reigning monarch.

Additionally, the house has hosted royal receptions, such as the one held in honor of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.

However, it is essential not to confuse Frogmaw House with Frogmaw Cottage, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex resided.

Unlike the cottage, Frogmaw House has opened its doors to welcome tourists in recent years.

Visitors are captivated by the estate’s stunning gardens, opulent interiors, and unique features.

The name “Frogmaw” derives from the frogs that inhabit the vast swampy area surrounding the house.

Furthermore, the Royal Mausoleum, located on the estate, serves as the final resting place for numerous members of the Windsor Dynasty.

Inside Frogmaw House, one can find a hall adorned with wall paintings by the renowned French artist Louis Laguerre.

Additionally, the Britain Room showcases items from the Royal Yacht, personally curated by Prince Philip himself.

Unfortunately, photography is prohibited within the house, leaving visitors with the exclusive opportunity to witness these treasures in person.

It was rumored that William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, considered Frogmaw House as a potential residence for their growing family.
