“I didn’t hire you to look ugly!”: Salma Hayek Was Bullied Horribly by Infamous Producer Who Threatened to Fire Her for Not Going N*de in Biopic

Mexican-American actress and producer, Salma Hayek, has shared her experience of being bullied by Harvey Weinstein during the production of her passion project, Frida.

The biographical drama, directed by Julie Taymor, chronicles the life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and earned Hayek an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.

However, Weinstein’s bullying tactics throughout the film’s development, filming, and release profoundly impacted her professional life, according to The Guardian.

During a recent interview, Hayek revealed that Weinstein attempted to shut down Frida unless she agreed to include a full-frontal n^de scene in the film.

“When he would call me up [during the making of ‘Frida’] and scream, ‘Why do you have a [monobrow] and mustache?

I didn’t hire you to look ugly!’ I was like, ‘But didn’t you ever look at a picture of Frida Kahlo?’ If a man was playing Cyrano de Bergerac, he wouldn’t say, ‘What’s with the nose?

‘” Hayek said.

In December 2017, Salma Hayek spoke out about the repeated s**ual advances and attempted s**ual assault made by Harvey Weinstein.

She consistently rejected his requests, including declining to shower with him, letting him watch her shower, and receiving massages from him or his associates, as recounted to The New York Times.

Hayek turned down all his requests by saying, “No to me taking a shower with him.

No to letting him watch me take a shower.

No to letting him give me a massage.

No to letting a n^ked friend of his give me a massage.

No to letting him give me oral s**.

No to my getting n^ked with another woman.

No, no, no, no, no…And with every refusal came Harvey’s Machiavellian rage.”
In the early stages of her career, Hayek recognized the potential value of s** appeal and harnessed it to safeguard her interests, as she discussed in a podcast interview.

She also revealed that Adam Sandler was the only one to see past her sexuality and helped her amass a $200 million fortune.

Hayek is known for being a producer and advocating for women’s rights.

Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her talent and contributions to the entertainment industry, continuing to inspire and empower women around the world.

Frida is available for streaming on HBO Max.
