Criticism Mounts as Meghan and Harry’s Attendance at Coronation Sparks Controversy

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have been making headlines since their departure from the Royal Family in 2020.

While the couple has been forging a new life for themselves in America, reports have emerged suggesting that they were in talks to attend the upcoming coronation of King Charles III in the UK.

However, TV presenter Nan Akua has delivered a clear message to the Sussexes: stay in America.

In an op-ed for GB News, Akua voiced the disappointment felt by the British public towards the couple.

“Let me make something clear,” she wrote, “as a member of the British public, I don’t want you and Meghan at the coronation.”

Akua emphasized that the event is a state affair, funded by British taxpayers, rather than a family gathering.

She reminded the couple that it is the people of the country they are criticizing who have supported their privileged upbringing and bestowed upon them their titles.

The coronation, scheduled for May 6th, holds great significance for both the Royal Family and the nation as a whole.

It marks the beginning of a new era under King Charles III and will be the first coronation in the memory of most Britons.

However, the prospect of the Sussexes’ attendance has stirred controversy.

Akua also criticized Prince Harry’s recent memoir, titled “Spare.”

The book has caused a stir due to its allegations against several members of the Royal Family, including Queen Consort Camilla and Prince William.

The TV presenter described the memoir as embarrassing and took issue with the couple’s apparent desire for privacy.

Despite their efforts to maintain a private life since stepping back from their senior royal roles, the Sussexes’ recent ventures, such as their Spotify podcast and Netflix series, have been met with criticism for being hypocritical.

Given the reported negotiations for their attendance at the coronation, Akua urged the Sussexes to remain in America.

“Well, they’re all yours now.

They’ve burnt their bridges here,” she stated.

However, it seems that the couple’s popularity is also waning in the United States.

A recent poll conducted by Redfield and Wilton revealed a significant decline in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s favorability ratings.

Prince Harry’s rating dropped 45 points from plus 38 in December to minus 7 in January, while Meghan Markle’s rating dropped 36 points from plus 23 to minus 13.

The survey, which included 2,000 eligible US voters, indicates that their actions and decisions continue to be a source of contention and controversy on both sides of the Atlantic.

The question of whether the Sussexes will ultimately attend the coronation remains unanswered, but the possibility has ignited intense debate and discussion.

As their popularity dwindles and criticism mounts, it is unclear what the future holds for Meghan and Harry.

Only time will tell if their choices and endeavors will lead to something meaningful.

In the meantime, we invite you to share your thoughts on Nana Akua’s criticism of the couple.
