Mathew Knowles, best known as the father of renowned music artists Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, is also a dad to two younger children from different relationships.

He shares Beyoncé and Solange with his ex-wife Tina Knowles, whom he divorced in 2011.

His other children are Koi Knowles, 10, born before his divorce from Tina, and Nixon Knowles, also 10, from a separate relationship.

Mathew is credited with launching Beyoncé’s career by managing Destiny’s Child, the girl group she formed with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

Solange, the younger sister, initially began as a backup dancer before eventually carving out her own successful singing career.

Solange and Beyoncé inherited their beauty, intelligence, and talent from their parents, Tina and Mathew, who married in 1980 and divorced in 2011.

Tina initially filed for divorce in 2009 but withdrew the suit, only to refile in 2010, the same year Mathew’s other children were born.

Beyoncé fired Mathew as her manager after the divorce and the exposure of his infidelities, amid allegations of embezzlement.

In February 2010, Mathew had a son named Nixon with Canadian actress Alexsandra Wright, with whom he had an affair.

Following a paternity test, Mathew acknowledged Nixon as his child. Wright claimed that Mathew had no contact with their son and did not fulfill his child support obligations.

She stated in 2014, regarding Beyoncé’s involvement in the situation, “I don’t expect Beyoncé to take accountability. It’s not her problem. It’s not her situation.”

Mathew also had a child with dancer TaQoya Branscomb in 2009. Four months after Nixon’s birth, Branscomb gave birth to a daughter named Koi.

Mathew had an affair with Branscomb and abandoned her when she announced her pregnancy.

Branscomb eventually took legal action to have Mathew acknowledge Koi as his daughter, which was confirmed through DNA testing.

Branscomb, now a successful real estate agent, hopes for Koi to be welcomed into the Knowles family.

Both Branscomb and Wright have accused Mathew of being an uninvolved father to his younger children.

After being fired by Beyoncé, Mathew requested a reduction in his child support payments for Nixon from $12,000 to $2,500 per month.

Wright claimed that this forced her to seek assistance to support her son and alleged that Mathew suggested giving her son to Beyoncé and Jay Z to raise with their children, Blue Ivy, 8, and Sir and Rumi, 3.

In 2013, two years after his divorce from Tina, Mathew married former model Gena Avery.

Neither Solange nor Beyoncé attended the wedding, and the couple does not have any children together.

In October 2019, Mathew was diagnosed with breast cancer, prompting concern from his ex-wife Tina and daughters Solange and Beyoncé.

Despite their professional disagreements, Beyoncé has expressed her love for Mathew, who is a devoted grandfather to his four grandchildren.
