Meghan Markle took at least 13 overseas trips despite informing Oprah Winfrey that her visa has been revoked, according to reports.

The Duchess of Sussex, 39, shared how “all that gets turned over” in her Oprah Winfrey show, which broadcast earlier this week.

Meghan said in a television interview that after joining the Royal Family, she did not see her passport again until she landed in California .

“I mean, you have to understand, as well, when I joined that family, that was the last time, until we came here, that I saw my passport, my driver’s licence, my keys. All that gets turned over. I didn’t see any of that any more.”

New York, Ibiza, Italy, and Botswana were among the locations she toured since meeting Harry.

They have traveled to Morocco, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, and Fiji on three formal royal tours.

Meghan opened up on how she felt unsupported as she sought treatment with her mental health issues during her interview with Prince Harry on Sunday, March 7. “I was ashamed to tell it at the moment, and particularly ashamed to have to confess it to Harry because I know how much loss he has suffered,” the California resident, 39, said during the special. “I just didn’t want to be alive anymore. That was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought.”

The Suits actress, who was expecting her son Archie at the time, said she had “never felt this way before,” and that what she wanted to do was “go somewhere” but couldn’t.

Experts explain why the documents were kept

“Meghan had to surrender her driver’s license due to security concerns. She would not be safe if she went out driving on her own,” historian Robert Lacey, who consults on the Netflix series “The Crown,” clarified to the BBC.

In terms of having to hand in her passport, it’s possible that it was taken for safekeeping.

“One expects that royals’ precious personal records are stored in a safe or safes — under the overall palace security,” said Robert Finch, chair of the pro-monarchy party The Monarchist League of Canada.

“Sounds as if it fitted Meghan’s narrative of being trapped and isolated, but really was routine, and probably anything would be accessible to her if she wanted it,” Finch told the outlet.
