On Saturday, April 17th, the Duchess of Sussex will not attend the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.

Meghan, who is expecting a baby girl with Prince Harry, has been advised not to fly by her physicians owing to the advanced stage of her pregnancy, according to a palace spokesperson.

Buckingham Palace issued the following statement: “The Duke of Sussex is planning to attend. The Duchess of Sussex has been advised by her physician not to travel. So the Duke will be attending .”

Omid Scobie, a royal correspondent, said, “Prince Harry will attend his grandfather’s funeral on Saturday (following all US and UK Covid-19 protocols in the process). A source adds that Meghan, who is heavily pregnant, made ‘every effort’ to travel but didn’t receive medical clearance from her physician .” Meghan announced her pregnancy earlier this year.

Meghan’s decision not to attend the funeral sparked outrage on social media. Many people said the same thing on Twitter.

“But she could fly to New York whilst heavily pregnant for her $1M baby shower,” a Twitter user said.

“In May 2019 Meghan Markle flew to USA when she was pregnant for a baby shower but not able to fly to UK now !!,” another person said.
“Wasn’t she heavily pregnant when she used our money to fly to New York for an expensive baby shower? Very convenient to use the excuse of the pregnancy to avoid facing those described as devils on Earth”

People were referring to her lavish baby shower in New York in February 2019, which allegedly cost £232,000 ($300,000). The party took place in the penthouse suite of New York’s opulent Mark Hotel. Serena Williams, Amal Clooney, makeup artist Daniel Martin, and best friend Jessica Mulroney were among the guests.

Of course, there were many who defended Meghan.

“Funny how the people calling Meghan Markle a disgrace to the Royal Family for attending an NYC baby shower, but not Prince Philip’s funeral, are failing to mention the numerous times she flew while pregnant on behalf of the Queen. Or do Royal Tours not count as being dutiful? ” a Twitter user wrote.

“Dear Media #MeghanMarkle is very pregnant. She would be foolish to travel to the UK in a global pandemic that is spiking in the UK even for a funeral. Leave her alone. #PrincePhillip ”

Mourners are divided about whether Meghan should fly to the funeral of Prince Philip.

Members of the public paying homage to the Duke of Edinburgh have praised Prince Harry’s decision to return to the UK for his grandfather’s burial, but mourners have expressed conflicting feelings over Meghan’s absence.

Several mourners gathered outside Windsor Castle shared their thoughts on the Duke of Sussex’s return from the United States for the solemn event, which were very encouraging.

When it comes to his pregnant wife Meghan, who is expected to give birth to a baby girl early this summer and will not be following Prince Harry to the UK under doctor’s advice, the decision wasn’t quite as unanimous.

Here are a few of the responses.

‘Harry can return.’ Meghan, I believe, has her own problems with the monarchy, but Harry, I believe, should be there for his grandparents.

‘You see, his grandfather passed away, and it was a big part of his life, so he should be here.’ Even if it’s just for a short visit, that’s perfect. Still, ideally, they will make amends; at the very least, Harry and William may be able to reconcile.’

‘It would be wonderful for Harry to return as a family, to be a part of the family as they assemble to bid his grandfather farewell.’

‘However, I imagine that, given her pregnancy, traveling such a long distance is not a pleasant experience for her (Meghan).’

‘I mean, if I were to travel – I don’t know how many months she’s in now, but it’s a long trip.’ It’s a shame she won’t be able to participate, but it’s understandable if she can’t fly.’

‘I believe he should be doing what he wants to do, because it is clear that he wants to be here.’ I believe Meghan has been asked to keep back under doctor’s instructions because she is evidently pregnant, and I believe she can do what is best for her.’

‘Yes, I’m overjoyed that Harry is returning. Meghan, in my opinion, should accompany him to express solidarity and love. Part of me knows that she isn’t returning, but I believe it is a mistake.
