Zendaya Speaks Out on Starring In Kill Bill 3

Zendaya is a rising Hollywood actress who plays MJ in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Chani in Dune, which will be released later this year. Her name was reportedly mentioned in discussions regarding a sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill. In the film, the daughter of Vernita Green, the assassin played by Vivica A. Fox in Kill Bill, who witnessed Uma Thurman’s Beatrix Kiddo murder her mother, seeks revenge on Beatrix. Last year, Fox told NME that she’d cast Zendaya as Vernita’s furious daughter. Zendaya responded to the suggestion in an interview with Empire Magazine, stating she was flattered but it was only a fantasy.

“I saw that!” Zendaya said during an interview with Empire. “I was quite honored that she would say that. Obviously she’s incredible and I’m very flattered that she would think of me. But, you know, it’s just an idea. The internet kinda takes things and runs with it.” Fox added that she hoped her recommendation would help Tarantino get Kill Bill 3 off to a good start and generate some enthusiasm for the possible movie. Fox stated that she feels Zendaya would bring a new dimension of action and suspense to a potential Kill Bill 3 sequel. Because Zendaya and Thurman are both tall, the two would be a wonderful combination. Zendaya replied warmly to Fox’s remarks, but she seemed to be sure that nothing is tangible in the future, at least for the time being.

In the interview, Fox discussed the casting of Kill Bill: Vol. 3. “So I went, Zendaya! How hot would that be? And that would probably green light this project. Her and Uma are both very tall, and it would just be kick-butt, and I love her. Hopefully now we can put that out, like ‘Tarantino, cast Zendaya!’ And spark his interest to put it on the fast track.”

Since 2019, Tarantino has stated that he has explored the potential of a third Kill Bill film with several of the film’s stars, and he had teased the possibility even earlier. In Tarantino’s vision, the picture would have a metatextual layer, with Thurman’s real-life daughter Maya Hawke playing B.B., Beatrix’s daughter.

“Well I just so happen to have had dinner with Uma Thurman last night, we were at a really cool Japanese restaurant,” Tarantino said last year in The Hollywood Reporter. “She was bragging about me, and I was bragging about her, it was a lovely night… Well I do have an idea of what I would do. That was the whole thing, conquering that concept… exactly what’s happened to the bride since then, and what do I want to do. Because I wouldn’t want to just come up with some cockamamie adventure – she doesn’t deserve that. The Bride has fought long and hard. Now I have an idea that actually could be interesting – I wouldn’t do it for a little bit though… It would be like at least three years from now or something like that. But look, it is definitely in the cards.”

Given Zendaya’s rising fame as a young actress, her inclusion in a Tarantino picture would be appreciated, especially given her previous experience in action movies. Tarantino’s works have an uncertain future, with the legendary filmmaker stating many times that his next picture will be his last.

So it’s possible that we’ll see a Kill Bill 3 at some point, but it’s unlikely that Zendaya will appear in it.
