“You don’t have to tell me how to make out on camera”: Katherine Heigl Was So Wrong About Shooting S*x Scenes In Her Movies With Intimacy Coordinators

During a recent candid chat with her Grey’s Anatomy co-star Ellen Pompeo, Katherine Heigl expressed her opinion about intimacy coordinators in the film industry.

The actress, who has recently starred in Netflix’s Firefly Lane, spoke about how valuable they are and the importance of having them on set.

She praised intimacy coordinators for making actors feel safe while shooting uncomfortable intimate scenes.

However, Heigl admitted that she was not always supportive of their presence.

Initially, she believed that she did not need anyone to tell her how to make out on camera since she was an experienced Hollywood actress.

In fact, she felt awkward about it.

But after working with intimacy coordinators on Firefly Lane, she realized how much they helped her feel protected and safe.

In particular, Heigl was grateful for one coordinator who helped protect young girls on set during a rape scene.

The coordinator’s presence made her feel like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders since she no longer had to fight battles for the young girls.

Heigl also acknowledged that as a child actress, she felt obligated to follow the orders of the elders regarding how she should behave and what she should do.

However, as she grew older, she found it harder to keep up with the false persona and be a people pleaser.

Heigl explained that it took her a long time to speak up and voice her thoughts without feeling like a bad person.

She was confused about whether she was ungrateful, unprofessional, or difficult.

She felt shame for a long time until she finally outgrew her naive version.

Heigl has certainly come a long way since her Grey’s Anatomy days.

Intimacy coordinators have become increasingly important in the film industry, especially for female actors, replacing the days when actors were forced to shoot uncomfortable intimate scenes.

With their presence on set, actors can now feel more comfortable and protected while performing such scenes.

Heigl acknowledged that intimacy coordinators may create problems with their good intentions but ultimately, they helped her feel safe.

Grey’s Anatomy fans can stream the show and Firefly Lane on Netflix.
