Why King Charles, Camilla broke up before he met Diana

The world was enamored with the love story of Prince Charles and Princess Diana when they got engaged in 1981.

However, their marriage was far from perfect.

They only met a few times before their engagement, and after tying the knot, news of their troubled relationship started to spread.

But what happened before Charles met Diana?

Before he fell in love with the People’s Princess, he was smitten with Camilla Shand, now known as Camilla Parker Bowles.

Let’s take a closer look at why their relationship ended.

Prince Charles first met Camilla in 1970 through a mutual friend.

They hit it off immediately and began seeing each other.

At the time, Camilla was dating a retired British Army officer named Andrew Parker Bowles.

However, their on-again-off-again relationship came to an end when Andrew started dating Charles’s sister, Princess Anne.

According to royal biographer Sarah Bradford, a friend of Camilla’s said, “Charles was in love with Camilla, Camilla was having some of it but she was also potty about Andrew–all this intrigue was going on.”

By all accounts, Charles wanted to continue his relationship with Camilla, but when he was sent overseas with the Royal Navy, they split.

Charles was heartbroken to learn that while he was away, Camilla had rekindled her romance with Andrew.

A few months later, Charles found out that they had gotten married.

Although Charles was head over heels for Camilla, he knew that he couldn’t marry her because she wasn’t from a sufficient aristocratic background, which did not make her a proper suitor for the future king.

Additionally, during that time, the royals preferred the heir apparent to marry a virgin, which Camilla was not.

Despite their breakup, Charles and Camilla remained in contact with each other.

Rumors of an affair between the two began to surface when Charles was married to Diana.

In the late ’80s, a raunchy conversation between Charles and Camilla was recorded and leaked to the public in 1993, which became known as “Camillagate” or “tampongate.”

In the call, Charles said, “Oh God.

I’ll just live inside your trousers or something.

It would be much easier!” To which Camilla responded, “What are you going to turn into, a pair of knickers?

Oh, you’re going to come back as a pair of knickers.” He then tells her, “Or, God forbid, a Tampax.

Just my luck!”

The prince and Diana divorced in 1996, one year before her tragic death.

On April 9, 2005, Charles married his longtime love, Camilla Parker Bowles.

Despite all the controversies surrounding their relationship, Charles and Camilla have always been by each other’s side.

They have faced numerous rumors and scandals, including the infamous affair, and the public has always been curious about the nature of their relationship.

Many people have even wondered if they sleep in separate beds.

The answer is that it’s unclear.

While some sources claim that they sleep in separate rooms, others say that they share a bed.

The royal couple has never confirmed or denied these rumors, so we may never know for sure.

Regardless of their sleeping arrangements, Charles and Camilla have been together for over 50 years.

They have faced challenges and obstacles, but they have always found a way to overcome them.

Their love story may not have started out as a fairy tale, but it has certainly stood the test of time.
