Why Dakota Johnson Used a B*tt Double in Fifty Shades of Grey

During the making of Fifty Shades Of Grey, Dakota Johnson had to cope with an awkward incident. The 26-year-old actress had a tattoo near her b*tt that the producers were concerned about.

The film’s cinematographer, Seamus McGarvey, told The New York Times that he had to hire a “b*tt double” for the 26-year-old actress because of the ink on her, hmm, bottom.

McGarvey said, “We did have a b*tt double for Dakota. I had the pleasure of casting a non-tattooed bottom.”

The Oscar-nominated cinematographer said some of the most bizarre moments of his 25-year-long career happened while filming Fifty Shades.

“Johnson had kind of a patch that went over her pubic area, and right round her whole body,” McGarvey shared. “We were in the curious situation, in post production, of adding (pubic hair),” he said.

“I wouldn’t say it was one of the highlights of my career, but it certainly was one of the most surreal scenarios,” McGavey added.

Dakota Johnson has a number of tattoos on various places of her body. She has a huge tattoo on the inside of her arm that reads “Acta Non Verba,” which is Latin for “Deeds Not Words.” “Look At The Moon,” encircled by small stars, is another tattoo on her right foot. Dakota has a little tattoo behind her right ear and on the back of her neck, as well as swallow birds tattooed on her right shoulder. The list seems to be rather extensive, but we’re curious as to what is scrawled on her behind.

Dakota said in an interview, “I went through a phase where I loved tattoos, and I loved the feeling of getting tattooed,” Johnson revealed to The Edit Magazine. “But now I’ve outgrown them mostly, and (because) I always have to cover them for jobs, God, they’re annoying!”

Johnson wasn’t the only one who needed to be covered in a respectful manner. “Jamie [Dornan] had a cover over his p-nis,” according to McGarvey, which must have been tough to conceal in post-production.

According to the book’s author E. L. James, Johnson and the rest of the actors started shooting the sequel, Fifty Shades Darker, yesterday.

James posted on Instagram “Day One #FSD Good luck to all the cast and crew” with a sneak peek picture of the set.

James Foley is directing the second sequel, which is set to be released in 2017.
