Why Ally Sheedy Burst Into Tears While Filming the s** Scene in ‘St.

Elmo’s Fire’: ‘I Was Absolutely Out of My Mind, Horrified’
The iconic 1985 film, St. Elmo’s Fire, has gained a cult following since its release.

However, one of the most memorable scenes in the movie was anything but enjoyable for actress Ally Sheedy.

The passionate lovemaking scene between her and co-star Andrew McCarthy was difficult to film, leaving Sheedy in tears.

The scene comes after McCarthy’s character, Kevin, finally confesses his love for Sheedy’s character, Leslie.

He had been hopelessly in love with her for years but kept it hidden.

His confession sparked a romantic lovemaking scene that viewers remember as one of the most unforgettable moments in the film.

However, behind the scenes, filming this scene was a nightmare for Sheedy.

In an interview for the Brat Pack memoir titled You Couldn’t Ignore Me If You Tried, Sheedy revealed that she was “dead scared” throughout the entire process.

She thought the scene would only involve kissing and a romantic fadeout, but to her horror, she discovered that McCarthy would have to be on top of her in a chair, making it look like they were having s**.

Sheedy wasn’t informed that she would have to take off her clothes until the day of filming, leaving her feeling emotionally exposed.

Luckily, Sheedy didn’t have to be fully n^ked for the scene.

She wore a little bodysuit, but still felt anxious and vulnerable.

When director Joel Schumacher didn’t find her performance steamy and passionate enough, he yelled out, “You’re F*CKING!

Action!”

This comment made Sheedy burst into tears, leaving McCarthy to stand up for her.

He stood up n^ked and asked Schumacher, “What the f*ck is the matter with you?!”

Schumacher apologized, but the damage was already done.

Sheedy was left feeling unsupported and upset by the director’s harsh comments.

Despite the difficulties, McCarthy was extremely protective of Sheedy throughout the vulnerable shoot.

She says he was her rock and that she “really, really needed it.”

McCarthy’s character, Kevin, was madly in love with Leslie throughout the film, but his confession came at a cost to Sheedy, who had to bear the brunt of the intense filming process.

The Brat Pack memoir revealed that Sheedy burst into tears during the lovemaking scene due to the stress and anxiety of the situation.

She was horrified by the thought of being emotionally exposed on camera and having to simulate s** for a movie.

It was a difficult situation that left her feeling overwhelmed and unsupported.

Despite the challenges, St. Elmo’s Fire remains a timeless classic, and the iconic lovemaking scene is one of the film’s most memorable moments.

However, it’s important to remember that behind the scenes, actors often face challenges and difficulties that viewers never see.

In this case, Ally Sheedy’s vulnerability during the filming process is a reminder of the emotional toll that filming intimate scenes can take on actors.
