‘Weinstein tried to “teach” Vietnamese actress s** scenes’

A Vietnamese actress, Vu Thong Phuong, has come forward with allegations that Harvey Weinstein tried to “teach” her how to perform a s** scene during an audition for a role in one of his films.

Phuong recounted their meeting in a lengthy Facebook post after reading the accusations of other women in Hollywood who have accused Weinstein of s**ual harassment and assault.

Phuong said that in 2008, she was picked by producers of The Weinstein Company film for a supporting role in the Shanghai movie with John Cusack and Gong Li when she met Weinstein in Saigon to discuss the film.

After visiting a clothing store she owned, Weinstein bought her books and promised to promote her designs in Hollywood but told her that her lines in the film had been cut.

He blamed it on political reasons, citing Vietnam’s ongoing tension with Hong Kong at the time.

Phuong claims that Weinstein assuaged her by promising to include her in future projects and they went their separate ways.

However, later that night, she received an “urgent” message from one of his assistants beckoning her to his hotel suite to discuss her future in acting.

She claims she was taken to the presidential suite where she sat alone, waiting in the dark as Weinstein finished a phone call in the other room.

Eventually, he appeared “smiling, with a towel around his waist” and asked, “Are you ready to step into Hollywood?”

According to Phuong, Weinstein then told her that a film he had her in mind for would involve a “lot” of “hot s** scenes”.

“I can teach you, don’t worry.

Many stars have also been through this,” she recalled him telling her, promising that it would give her a better chance of success in the film industry.

Phuong said that Weinstein told her “many” actresses had allowed him to “teach them” how to perform s** scenes, but she refused his advances.

The woman said she declined his advances and told him, “Maybe Hollywood is not my place,” then left.

When Shanghai was released in theaters, Phuong appeared only briefly on-screen.

She never starred or appeared in another Hollywood-produced film.

She said that she cried when she saw herself on screen for just a few seconds in the final cut.

Phuong revealed her accusations in a lengthy Facebook post last week after reading the accounts of other women who have accused Weinstein of s**ual harassment or assault.

She said she had kept their encounter a secret for nine years because she was afraid of speaking out against him but that the stories of other accusers resonated with her.

In 2010, a Chinese director accused Weinstein of “cheating” to win critical acclaim by allegedly promising the Shanghai International Film Festival forum money then backing out.

“Harvey is a cheater in the eyes of many Chinese moviemakers,” director Feng Xiaogang told The Hollywood Reporter at the time.

Phuong joins a growing number of women who have accused Weinstein of s**ually assaulting them or harassing them over a period of 20 years.

Weinstein, who is believed to be seeking treatment for s** addiction at an unknown facility in Arizona, apologized for his behavior after the first allegations were published by The New York Times on October 5.

He insisted through a spokesman that he has never forced himself on anyone or engaged in any form of non-consensual s**.

Cusack has been vocal in his support of Weinstein’s accusers since they began airing their allegations.

He supported a boycott of Twitter after actress Rose McGowan had her account suspended last week as she commented on the unfolding scandal.

Phuong, now a mother-of-two, continues to model in Vietnam but has not appeared in another Hollywood film.
