Tom Hardy wanted to strip naked for BBC drama
In his upcoming program Taboo, Tom Hardy has indicated that we will almost certainly see a LOT more of him.
In February, the 39-year-old actor made headlines when he was photographed wading nude through a lake filming the Georgian drama.

Hardy explains why he didn’t want to dress up for some of the sequences in an interview with the BBC.
“You’re lucky there was a loin cloth because I didn’t want one,” Tom replies.

“It’s not a period drama until someone gets naked and covers themselves in blood. At least you’re showing willing.”

He adds: ‘I was in Tilbury, in the moat, in the docks, with nothing on. We were trying to eke out drama from any opportunity and none of that makes the cut.’
‘Taboo’ follows wanderer James Delaney, who was thought to have died until he returns to London from Africa in 1814 to restore his father’s shipping empire—but he must first evade his own execution.
Hardy expressed his hope that the new drama will “deliver” for individuals who are feeling down after the holidays.
“It’s January. You’re coming out of the darkness of the Christmas period, it’s freezing and no-one has any money,” he said. “Hopefully Taboo should deliver on a lot of levels.
“It’s got heart, a lot of attention to detail. It opens like a jewellery box and it’s got that Gothic horror feel to it. I hope you enjoy it.”
Oona Chaplin, David Hayman, Jonathan Pryce, Jessie Buckley, Jefferson Hall, and Ashley Walters all feature in the eight-episode series.
Tom has established himself as one of the UK’s leading men in Hollywood, with roles in films such as The Dark Knight Rises and Mad Max: Fury Road, but he still values British television.
“You get more bang for your buck with TV.
“The standard is so high. A good TV series is like reading a good book. You can actually watch the characters unfold and immerse in another world in the comfort of your own home.”
