Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer in The Witcher, has spoken out about her character’s sex scenes.

Anya told Metro that, despite the presence of a body double, she did not feel comfortable with anyone else playing Yennefer.

‘I had a body double for the sex scenes, and she was always there. Flora,’ she explained.

‘But I didn’t, I only used her for the first sex scene because I realised very quickly in that first sex scene that actually, I didn’t feel comfortable anyone else portraying Yennefer, because it’s still acting isn’t it?’

Pre-transformation Yennefer was seen in a passionate clinch with Istredd (Royce Pierreson) in the scene in question, while an imagined audience concocted by Yen applauded as they watched.

She chose to perform whatever nudity going ahead after seeing her body double in a sex scene between a pre-transformation Yennefer and Istredd.

“I found [watching] that really hard, so if we were going to talk about the sex scenes then it would be how we were best going to film them, so that I was comfortable and you’d still get what we needed for the story to move on,” she said.

“But with the audience, yeah, but the wide shot isn’t me. The intimacy between Yennefer and Istrid is. Those close-up shots.”

“We thought we could portray those scenes without any nudity. Semi-nude, but not like the first sex scene where I had to use my body double,” Chalotra added.

‘The only things that I had to get nude for were the scenes, the transformation scene and other scenes which actually really did develop the story and really need to, you know…’

The fantasy series The Witcher has only been available on Netflix for four days, but it has already had an impression on viewers. Those who may be missing Game of Thrones, in particular.

Geralt, a magical monster hunter for hire, is commanded by Henry Cavill, whose one encounter with a genie-like monster known as a Djinn led to his first meeting with Yennefer.

He soon finds himself falling for the mystical woman, despite his best efforts, but she believes he wished it for her, so she denies her feelings and abandons him.
